Ruins of Nunnaminster in Winchester, a Benedictine nunnery founded by Eahlswith, widow of Alfred the Great between 899 & 902. Her granddaughter Eadburh would later become a nun there. Rebuilt several times, dissolved by Henry VIII 1539 #nunnaminster #winchester #anglosaxon #saxon #alfredthegreat
