Ayocote Morado finally starting to emerge as the other pole beans are dying back.

Last year I had a bunch of the plants hanging to dry in my basement because frost came before they were ready.

Bean appreciation post! These days I eat so many beans that I think they might be my favorite food.

Hoping to have a little stash of dried beans to use throughout the winter.

For those following bean-sky, here’s the crop this evening.

You can’t really see the stick labels very well anymore.

Pole beans are emerging like vampires.

Now for the fun part where they grow like crazy, seemingly by the hour.

Today's my phone started to die camera first. Also time to plant #bushbeans and #polebeans

Named after the originator of the seed save and what I think Grammie's was to start. Both have the same number of beans... But Grammie's are big. Selected for straight and surviving.

#Gardening #2025. Expanding area by removing cedar trees. Put up old handrail for #polebeans, #cucumbers and climbing #oramental #pumpkins. Likely to expand right and front side of GH for #onions, #lettuce, many #flowers and maybe #climbing #cherry #tomatoes. Probably #fire pit may move in, too.

Despite some heavy rainfall warnings within recent memory, no heavy rainfall, or in fact rainfall, has happened since sometime in August, if I'm remembering rightly. Planted bulbs and the earth in my sandy yard is just dust. Explains why my polebeans have died. Shallow roots & I didn't water them.

The skinny young polebeans are so good, but a lot of times when you get green beans in restaurants they're like... twice the diameter???

I get that it's "more" but also the flavor and sweetness and texture is just... gone

... And so ended July at the Zaubergarten. That's Hadije, harvesting in her amazing bean patch right next to our little plot, while we were just planting purple polebeans for a late crop. #comunitygardenvibes

Haha, I told that story to my Austrian wife as we planted our purple polebeans this summer, and we had a good discussion about what it might mean, metaphorically. Turns out that particular folktale is not well known in Austria.
