Frank saw #emotions as adding weight to promises and threats — enabling #cooperation in #PrisonersDilemma. But his #GameTheory model was criticized.

Ross & Dumouchel reframe emotions as #SocialSignals that help us coordinate on “which game” we’re playing.

Emotions as Strategic Signals - Don Ross, Paul Dumouchel, 2004

LIFE is a Game. Here's the Instruction MANUAL You Were Never Given.
What if I told you that your entire life—from asking for a raise, to dating, to what you post on social media—is a game? And right now, you're playing it without knowing the rules. In this episode, we're handing you the secret instruction manual. We're decoding the master principles of Game Theory and showing you how to apply them to your everyday life. You'll finally understand why you get stuck in the same arguments or dead-end situations—the dreaded Nash Equilibrium—and how to break free. We'll expose the Prisoner's Dilemma running in the background of your relationships and teach you how to foster trust when self-interest leads to betrayal. This isn't about being cold or manipulative; it's about seeing the hidden architecture of human interaction. You'll learn the power of dominant strategies like radical honesty, the art of "backward induction" to achieve your goals, and why playing the long game is the only game that matters. We'll show you how to shift any conflict from a zero-sum battle to a positive-sum collaboration. Stop being a pawn in a game you don't understand. It's time to learn how the board is set up so you can start changing the rules. Ready to stop being a player and become the game master? Hit play and get your masterclass in strategic thinking. If this episode unlocks a new level for you, share it with one person you want on your team.

Two philosophers, one rickety hut, zero clean water.
Who betrays first? Who stays moral?
And how long should you wait before cannibalism is an option?

Nah. Path of least resistance used to be "I don't want to think about it," now it's "push out a beautifully decorated turd for me, I'll claim that as my thoughts." Easier and sorta-kinda-works. If it doesn't, you're shielded from consequence by saying "🤷🏻‍♂️AI". #prisonersDilemma

Framing negotiations as a life-threatening adversarial stand-off without trust or communication might have some downsides! The Dilemma's Dilemma looks at the problem with the Prisoner's Dilemma as the go-to example for applied game theory. #PrisonersDilemma #GameTheory #Risk #MoralPhilosophy #Trust

I've always had a little trouble with the Prisoner's Dilemma as a scenario to use in real world applications, I think it sends the wrong message, but here I make the case for it... before I argue against it. #PrisonersDilemma #GameTheory #MoralPhilosophy

🔗 But why don’t we always cooperate?
This is where The Prisoner’s Dilemma comes in:
→ Do I trust that you’ll cooperate?
→ Or do I betray you to get ahead?

It’s so fundamentally crushing from the mutual global aid perspective. The US extracts so much from the rest of the world and delivers back weapons. This is the least the country can do to clean up some of the mess left behind. Applies to all countries tho. #prisonersdilemma.
