Which is why the South pretty much is so massively on board.
That said, this works in a US, and even UK context.
In France, Germany and Scandinavia, it's more evenly split between faithless socialdemocrats/union-members and right-wing conservatives.

In Sweden , the SD which is nationalistic without being far right much like Afd, has coorporated quite well with the government. Nothing is gone, except a destructive migration policy. Now, the socialdemocrats is even on the same train. SD is not pro-Russia though.
