If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

All Dutch media united in urgent plea for information security and an integrated media and tech policy in the name of democracy.

US tech companies will not do this they argue. Rare, sector-wide, strongly worded call to prioritize this in new government negotiations.

Many takes on the local elections in Denmark.
Important to note a mixed picture imho:

📉 Social democrats lose (5,2%), social / green parties win (3,7%)

Liberal and conservatives lose (5,8%), right wing parties win (6,4%)📈

Social democrats have biggest loss, also in terms of mayors.

But mixed 🖼️📊

I don't know how much we can learn about immigration policy in other countries from a local election in Denmark that had nothing to do with immigration.

In a survey conducted by Epinion (n = 102.897) integration was the second least important topic (out of 13) for voters in this election.

Meta's decision the slash fact-checking and move towards Community Notes in the US is now being reviewed for where else to implement this.

The Oversight Board has been asked to issue an opinion.

An opinion on where to (not) implement a poor policy...

Two things to watch for tonight:

- will the social-democrats loose the (mayor position in the) city of Copenhagen for the first time since ... forever?

- will Denmark qualify for the World Cup in football ⚽

Interesting unpacking of deepfakes:

- darkfakes
- glowfakes
- foefakes
- fanfakes

“A blanket approach to “fighting deepfakes” risks treating satirical content the same as malicious attacks”

No. This is a fundamentally bad choice. I get that journals scramble for audiences and interactions. The costs of fragmentation are real.

But going back to X is imho fundamentally wrong and sends a poor signal. Don’t.

Multiple political party websites hacked by pro Russian group ahead of local elections in Denmark.

Interference in election campaigns by foreign actors is a deliberate attempt at destabilizing. It is worrying but also important for democracies to build up resilience against this.

Should you ask an AI chatbot what to vote for? No.

I spoke to @videnskab.dk about this ahead of the local elections in Denmark and why the technology is not fit for purpose and completely non-transparent.
