#unconferences
Unconferences are my favourite. The beautiful serendipity of it all.

When we started these Product for the People unconferences it was really important that we made sure we have events in different locations. Next up, Birmingham! Details coming on Wednesday!
jukes.ie Jukesie @jukes.ie · May 12
The next Product for the People meetup is going to be in central Birmingham on Friday 20th June - tickets will be released Wednesday afternoon and will likely go fast if anything like previous editions.

The usual set-up - a couple of speakers to get things going then an afternoon of unconferencing.

This one of the best tech unconferences in the EU. If you're missing this one, look for the next one, in another city!

Prepare to be surprised! #openspacetechnology

On my way to #SoCraTes2025! 🤩 Can't wait to meet known and new tech folks at this amazing open space conference. The past years, lots of good stuff came out of the connections built and ideas nurtured together at #SoCraTes. Already curious what's going to happen this year! ✨ https://www.socrates-conference.de

@chrisjrn I now have this mental vision of you as a latter-day Johnny Appleseed, traveling the country/world leaving small, boutique unconferences behind in your footprints. an nbpy here (lots of Bays out there which have a North, after all - North Sheepshead Bay Python?), an ehat there…

Glad you're thinking of keeping going. Andy said nice things about your product chops, but I reckon your nous about what works when it comes to events and unconferences is highly valued by a lot of people. It takes a special skill to hold these things lightly but just right.

We want to start promoting #Bluesky events on our site. These include game jams, hackathons, art collabs, unconferences, live listens, and webinars.

We're looking at using an events calendar, with the goal of integrating it with the greater Social Web.

Organizers, give us a shout!

Added: expected session topics for FediForum June 5-7.

What a long list! Check it out: https://fediforum.org/2025-06/

Something important not on the list? Come to FediForum, and announce a session on that subject during agenda making in the morning! Unconferences for the win!

I'm happy to hear that unconferences are still a thing.

We also organized 2 "SoCraTes unconferences" in the past—but more like a retreat, with ~25 people over a weekend.

But it's paused for now because that kind of thing takes time 😄

“@WeCopass: Oh yeah! Nice workshop today! :) RT @alexhillman: Oh man I freaking love unconferences. #CoworkingEU” thank you!!

I've organized and participated in many unconferences in the past, and they are always the most intense exchange of ideas and information that I've experienced. Given the energy we're seeing in the registration this one is poised to be no different!

We call this voting with your feet at unconferences. While it’s not meant to reflect negatively on a session, it’s still hard if you’re the leader. CSPAN didn’t show the walkout, however, so I’m not sure how many Americans watching the joint address are aware of these Members walking out.
We just walked out of the state of the Union. My shirt showed Trump an important message: NO KINGS LIVE HERE.

In the spirit of student protestors from the Civil Rights Movement, I’m proud to have protested and walked out with many of my colleagues. This is NOT a normal time.

I have gone to a single unconference and liked it (a bunch of creators meeting at Kickstarter; sessions on knot tying & Instant Pot cooking, but also practical stuff). But I did used to go to events that D*ve W*ner was part of it, and I imagine most unconferences are a room full of him yelling.

My favourite this year was Foo Camp at Warkworth. Unconferences work best I reckon #nzconventions Your view?
December 5, 2024 at 6:43 AM
Can't unconferences been seen as a semi-formal version of that?
