#veggietales
For us, the equation was:
VeggieTales (Moral Absolutism) + RATM (Systemic Fury) = A generation that is tender with people but ruthless with systems.
What's your equation?
Name two unlikely influences that made you who you are today.

All I can do is shrug my shoulders. For years, I thought God looked like a giant on the cover of an old dictionary.

Even in VeggieTales and other religious cartoons, they NEVER showed him.

Actually, I think the only media I ever saw that did was The Simpsons (which mostly kept his face hidden).

What happens when you raise a generation on VeggieTales AND Rage Against the Machine?
You get a cohort of believers who are tender with people, ruthless with systems, and refuse to bow to golden statues.
New episode of The Faithful Citizen is out now.

Didn't really listen to music much as a kid, but either something from Veggietales or Lion King (I remember having a CD of that we'd play in the car)

doug tenipples being involved with BAD veggietales means I have a perfect example of what i mean when i say "Christian art being good entirely depends on if they have anything going on beyond christ and/or hate for their fellow humans"

Watched one more episode, Bedroom, which sort of reminded me of the song Goodnight Junior from VeggieTales.

I thought I had lost this
It was nowhere in our conversations, all I had was the sketch
I felt distraught over it

Everything you’ve given me that i have lost, you’ve guided me to find so easily in the moment I want it the most

God how I love you

every time VeggieTales content references a place in Illinois I do a double take bc yeah I know how connected it is to IL, that's why it was massive where I was growing up, but I'm still like "wait I know that place I've literally been there"

You're welcome.

My family likewise has a Christian faith, and assuming you mean "ally" in the way I think you mean it, we always have been supportive of the community, including the LGBTQIA+.

And yeah, I am serious when I say VeggieTales was a big reason for me being the man that I am.

Oh, sorry to hear that. I too was traumatized at a young age, though in my case it was a light. My neighbor's light outside the house.

From VeggieTales I learned two things: to not be afraid (though I am not overtly religious) and put my trust in God and to tell the truth.

Again, there is some partial inspiration with Monty Python and Veggietales, but there it's done sparingly and in spots, but it's endearing and funny.

And the reason they went with vegetables and the like was due to technical limitations of the time.
