"Indigenous nations used pawpaw trees for food, rope, crafts and medicine long before George Washington served chilled pawpaw halves at Mount Vernon. The scientific name of pawpaw is Asimina triloba, with the Asimina derived from an Algonquin word."

Anyway, point is that at the same time George Washington was leading the Continentals against the British, his steward at Mount Vernon was chasing runaway slaves.

Fun fact: The George Washington Memorial Parkway runs 25 miles from Mount Vernon to Arlington, VA, patrolled by civilian U.S. Park Police who enforce misdemeanors without masks and militarization. ICE isn’t police—it was militarized under Trump to intimidate and enforce racial policies.

The Department of Labor has been putting out some intense propaganda recently. Here are my takes on two of their recent pieces. As a descendant of Martha Washington and Italian immigrants, I remember who I am and where I came from.
