SUPRO SAHARA - S470 - 1963 Supro Sahara model S470, red, reso-glas, semi-hollow body, electric guitar made by Supro/National/Valco of Chicago, IL in 1963. This is a beautiful Supro Sahara model S470 (although not marked as such), red, reso-glas (fibreglass) semi-hollow body, electric guitar made by Supro/National/Valco of Chicago, IL in 1963. It's a very clean guitar that's a total joy to play and is absolutely a collectable piece. This comes from the same family of guitars that Jack White of the White Stripes uses. His main guitar is a Supro-made Airline-branded Lafayette with the "Gumby" headstock. It comes with an original two-tone: grey and white hard shell case which is in good condition. The serial number is: S12xxx (last 3 digits removed) which makes is a 1963. This model was only available in 1963 after that they modified it to be a Belmont and branded Sahara with slightly different configurations. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

BALDWIN: MODEL 706 - 1968 BURNS-BALDWIN Model 706 ES-335 style semi-hollow body translucent red finish, made in Italy assembled in the US. This a beautiful Baldwin-Burns model 706 double-cutaway, thinline, translucent red/cherry red, semi-hollow body, electric guitar. It's in very good condition and sounds amazing. All the electronics work perfectly and the neck is straight. It comes with a gig bag. Description from VintageSilvertones.com It's serial number 13xx so it is most likely from 1968. These guitar were made from 1967 - 1970. The main parts were made in Italy and assembled at the Baldwin factory in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A Burns neck was added at the US factory with the signature scroll-top headstock. It's possible other components were made by Burns or Baldwin directly but this appears to be largely Italian made parts including the pick-ups. The pickups are "Bar Type" humbuckers with adjustable screw poles and a Baldwin logo stamped on them. It has an adjustable roller bridge, with a fixed "B" tailpiece done in a very groovy 1960's style. This is a Danelectro Coral Firefly electric guitar in a rare red finish. It's in good condition for its age. This guitar has all the great features of the Danelectro Coral Firefly line: genuine Brazilian rosewood fretboard; exclusive slim, never-warp neck reinforced by dual steel beams that never need adjustment with a simple string action adjustment at neck socket for easy selective action. It has a double cutaway hollow body, arched spruce top with English maple back and sides. The polished trapeze style “C” Coral logo tailpiece with separate Brazilian rosewood bridge; two lipstick tube pickups with polished stainless steel surrounds. The lower body edge input jack location with a polished stainless steel large rectangular plate for reinforced support. Coral Firefly bodies were made in Japan (from 1967-1969) then sent back to New Jersey where the electronics and necks were installed. This particular guitar has a really low, fast action and a great sound. It plays really well, sounds terrific and looks beautiful. UNIVOX: LUCY (UHS-1) 1974 Univox - Lucy - lucite electric guitar in the Dan Armstrong "See-Thru" style. This is an extremely rare Univox Lucy (model number: UHS-1) electric guitar. It's made of Lucite and is a knock-off of the Dan Armstrong "See-Thru" created by Ampeg in the late 1960's and early 1970s. It has a 24 fret rosewood fretboard. The neck is straight and all the electronics work properly. The guitar is in excellent condition both cosmetically and electronically. There's two very minor flaws one is a small crack in the pick guard near the input jack, the other is some scratches on the back of the body (which can be buffed out). It comes with the original case, sales receipt dated July 5, 1977 and the original promotional "tear sheet" from Univox. It must have been older stock when it sold new in 1977. UNIVOX: LIMITED EDITION-(TV1) circa 1970 Univox Limited Edition-TV1 - Les Paul Jr. or Melody Maker style electric guitar. This is an early 1970's (or late 1960's), Univox Limited Edition (TV-1) electric guitar. It includes the original case but it's a bit worn. This guitar was made in the infamous Matsumoko guitar factory in Japan. It's the same factory that produced the Aria and Ibanez guitars. It was also the factory/company that was involved in the copyright lawsuit of the 1970's. The guitar is "wine red"; which is a translucent red. I believe the body is Mahogany wood. It's a Japanese made knock-off of the Gibson Melody Maker or Les Paul Jr. It has a rosewood fretboard, 22 frets, double cutaway, Gibson-lawsuit era headstock, and 1 P90 pickup. From what I can tell it appears to have a glued-on neck. This guitar is serial number 001xxx which is stamped on the back of the headstock so it's an early model. It also appears to have had a sticker on the headstock, presumably it said "Made In Japan." It is completely original. This guitar was definitely meant for rock. Teisco - Mosrite-style solid body electric guitar - 2 pickups sunburst. This guitar is a Japanese made, 1968, Teisco V2, Mosrite Ventures-style solid body electric guitar. The neck is straight and all the electronics work properly. It's in great shape; there's a few nicks but nothing significant. It has two very strong pickups that really give a Mosrite surf sound. The neck pickup is smooth, rich and full sounding while the bridge is twangy; together in the center position they've got a thick sound with a bit raspy twang. The neck is straight and all the electronics work properly. The whammy bar works well. It appears to be all original. MOSRITE: VENTURES MARK V - 1966 MOSRITE: VENTURES MARK V electric guitar. This is a rare Mosrite Ventures Mark V (Mark 5) electric guitar. It was purchased in 1968 and had been with the original owner since that time but I'd estimate it was made in 1966. The serial number on the neck is B9xx. This guitar has the tonal range you're looking for; it goes from a raspy surf sound to smooth jazz and straight up rock. The neck feels amazing and has the action set fast. This is a solid body guitar. It has the die cast Moseley tail piece which eliminated the mute mechanism that was part of the original Vibramute Ventures tailpiece. This Mark V has the "M" stamped, hat type volume and tone knobs with "T" and "V" along with the numbers 1-5 on the base portion. The neck is made from rock maple and is very thin with the infamous, very low, Mosrite "speed frets." The guitar also has the "zero-fret"; an extra fret just before the nut. The pickups are original Mosrite single coils. The guitar is in great condition except for some buckle rash on the back and some minor wear on the upper part of the neck. This is a rare, Mosrite Gospel Victory II electric guitar made in 1990 in the USA. It is a beautiful, offset double cutaway, hand made, solid body instrument built in the Ventures-series style. The features include a German Carve, a Pearl White finish, two white single coil pickups, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable roller-style saddles, a die cast Mosrite Vibramute tremolo tailpiece, two metal strap pins, and a tortoise shell pickguard, on which all of the electronics except for the pickups are mounted. This guitar comes with the original hardshell case. Mosrite guitars were first established in 1952 after Semi Moseley left Rickenbacker and joined Ray Boatwright. They merged their last names to create the name Mosrite. The Gospel model guitar begain to appear in catalogs in late 1967 as a hollow body instrument based on their Celebrity series. When Semie Moseley lost the Mosrite name, he began making guitars under the Gospel name. This is a rare, Mosrite Ventures Mark V electric guitar made in 1966 in the USA at the Bakersfield, California factory. It is a beautiful, offset double cutaway, two single coil pickup, solidbody instrument. The features include a Honduran Mahogany body with a German Carve, a blue finish, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a die cast Mosrite tremolo tailpiece, two metal strap pins, and a white pickguard, with a black stripe around the edge, on which all of the electronics except for the pickups are mounted. This guitar comes with the original hardshell case. Mosrite guitars were first established in 1952 after Semi Moseley left Rickenbacker and joined Ray Boatwright. They merged their last names to create the name Mosrite. The full "The Ventures" line, which was created from 1963 through 1967, when the licensing agreement with The Ventures ended, consisted of the Mark I, Mark V, Mark X (bass) and Mark XII (12 string.) The features include a natural blond finish, a maple body, two single coil pickups, two bound f-holes, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a die cast Moseley tremolo tailpiece, two metal strap pins, a tortoise shell pickguard and another tortoise shell guard plate on which all of the electronics, except for the pickups, are mounted. This is Gene Moles Custom Dobro electric guitar made in conjunction with Mosrite in 1968 at their Bakersfield, California factory. It is a beautiful, double cutaway, thin, hollow body electric/acoustic instrument. The features include a redsunburst finish, white binding on the body and neck, one single coil pickup with a metal surround, a Dobro resonator, two sound holes on either side of the pickup with diamond shaped perforations in a metal surface, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a trapeze-style tailpiece, two metal strap pins, a tortoise-shell guard plate on which all of the electronics except for the pickups are mounted, and another tortoise-shell plate between the pickup and the metal resonator plate/cone. Although this is a GM Custom guitar, it is based on a Mosrite D-100 resonator electric/acoustic guitar. Mosrite guitars were first established in the late 1950’s after Semi Moseley left Rickenbacker and joined Ray Boatwright. They merged their last names to create the name Mosrite. Gene Moles has played guitar with Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Red Simpson, Tex Ritter and many more. In addition to also writing surf-rock songs for the Ventures, he was the quality control person for the Bakersfield Mosrite factory which made instruments for some of the country music stars in the late 1960’s. Mosrite Celebrity III electric guitar made circa 1968 at the factory in Bakersfield California. It is a beautiful, double cutaway, thin, hollow body instrument. The features include a super rare, dark translucent blue finish (the woodgrain shows through the finish a bit), white binding on the body, two single coil pickups, two bound f-holes, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a trapeze-style tailpiece made of metal and wood, two metal strap pins, a 3-ply (off-white-black-white) white pickguard and control panel plate on which all of the electronics except for the pickups are mounted. ACOUSTIC/MOSRITE: CELEBRITY circa 1970 (Note: we sold this long ago and the person who bought it did pull it apart and sent fotos. But, they're long gone and I don't recall their results.) Acoustic-Mosrite Celebrity - semi-hollow body prototype electric guitar. This is an extremely rare (if not the only one) Acoustic-Mosrite Celebrity electric guitar. This is a thinline, semi-hollow body guitar done in the Mosrite Celebrity or Gibson ES335 style. The sound ranges from surf to punk rock to smooth and mellow. All the electronics work and the neck is straight. The screws in the bridge had to be replaced because they wouldn't turn to adjust the intonation but the originals are in the case. The guitar has a basic chip-core case but will be packed well for shipping. It was just set up with some seriously fast action! So it's ready to jam! This guitar is actually a bit of a mystery. It has an Acoustic logo on the headstock like they used on the Black Widows but the body is a Mosrite Celebrity from the late 1960's or early 1970s. The logo appears to be screen printed and not a sticker. The neck is definitely a Mosrite because of the zero fret, rounded nut, and thick headstock that's recessed below the fret board. It appears to be one of The Ventures model's necks. It seems like a prototype that Semi Moseley put together before he designed the Black Widows for Acoustic. So that would make it a joint effort between Mosrite and Acoustic. Acoustic at the time was producing amplifiers so this may have been their first foray into guitar manufacturing. Another possibility is it was assembled from leftover parts from the Mosrite factory and residual arrangement with Semi Mosley to build Acoustic Black Widows. What's your guess? Standel Custom 202 hollow body electric guitar - 2 pickups black finish. This is an extremely cool and very rare guitar! It's a Standel Custom 202, 2 pickup, thin-line, hollow body, electric guitar from 1967. I believe the guitar to be completely original. It has Kluson Deluxe tuners, a two-way adjustable bridge, heavy duty vibrato, adjustable truss rod, and individual pickup controls (off/on.) The body is fiberglass similar to Supro's Res-O-Glass bodies. The bridge pickup has a twangy sound that's great for country or surf sounds. The neck pickup is very full and jazzy sounding and both together have a 60's pop sound. The serial number is stamped on the base of the fretboard the same way Mosrite did. The frets are in good shape. Here's the minuses: there's is a slight bit of fret buzz and a very minor bow to the neck but it plays just fine. The body has some scratches but nothing serious. There is a rough area on the body nearby the control knobs. Also part of the "f-hole" has torn off. The price reflects the condition. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

(Original Alvarez description): The Grateful Dead’s relationship with Alvarez began in the 1980s, when both Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir collaborated with Alvarez luthiers to create their own signature models. The team experimented with many shapes, from dreadnoughts to jumbos, and incorporated favorite attributes from both bandmates, like a Modulus neck and Tree of Life inlay. These designs culminated in Bob Weir’s WY1BW, the result of years of fine-tuning, which Bob still plays today. As part of Alvarez’s 50th Anniversary they have created this special guitar (with two artwork options) to commemorate this long-time collaboration with the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. This is a double cutaway Silvertone made by Danelectro of Neptune, NJ made in February of 1964. The guitar features two single coil lipstick tube style pickups, a solid-center Masonite over pine body, a white Masonite pickguard on which the controls are mounted, a four-way adjustable chromed brass bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle, white tolex binding, two aluminum strap pins and a redburst finish with sparkling silver colored accents. This guitar is 100% original and in good condition. With its fantastic fast action and terrific tone, this guitar plays like a dream. Although this instrument already looks lovely, a previous owner, perhaps a resident of the Haight, chose to further decorate it with Grateful Dead stickers. We chose to leave this personal touch intact as it represents part of its long history.
