like with my wAIHA, I have fatigue and shortness of breathe and it can become life threatening when triggered by stress and none of that aligns to the expectations of modern capitalist society, especially when it comes to work, AND I don’t have any good treatments to get myself back on track

for me, I found those people through social media. since then, I’ve found the advocacy group for wAIHA, and I’ve started getting involved with them. we have our awareness day and virtual conference next week, and it’s exciting to know I’ll meet others like me!

fuck me, I forgot to take my meds before I left the house and I have to go get my bloodwork done today because I’m having some shortness of breath possibly due to WAIHA and those things are not related but I just want to complain about my shitty little body

I think there is a higher risk in primary WAIHA (what I have) vs secondary, but there’s not a ton of literature unfortunately
I just remember 3 weeks in to my hospital stay with no diagnosis I was convinced I had PNH and was trying to convince my hem/onc fellow I needed eculizumab lol

I work in a blood bank and we know all our WAIHA patients by name, because the antibodies make compatibility testing really difficult. It can take hours to get together the safest possible blood for transfusion.

probably. I’m in a trial for an FcRn inhibitor. I worked on an FcRn inhibitor for other IgG mediated autoimmune disorders, so I’ve been convinced for a while that that’s the way to go for WAIHA, and 2 different companies are now running trials!
