Thanks to all!

Monash has announced its intention to shut down the MSDI, but there is no movement on the presence of #WoodsideEnergy on campus.

This hypocrisy represents a Uni that isn’t committed to meaningful climate action.

This Labor Government has chosen to sabotage any climate goals in favour of approving our biggest ever fossil fuel project and letting #Woodsideenergy engage in climate destruction.

This is not a government taking the threat of climate change, or the opinions of our pacific neighbours, seriously.
The Albanese Government is putting Australians in harm’s way as it gives Woodside’s North West Shelf the stamp of approval to run until 2070.

This is the most polluting fossil fuel project in a decade. It is so harmful that it should be shutting down, not getting scaled up.

We were incredibly privileged last week to host @rodcampbell.bsky.social from the @australiainstitute.org.au at our Fossil Free Forum-Fest.

#woodsideenergy is a bad faith actor in every space they’re engaged with, and @monashuniversity.bsky.social is naive to think that it’s any different.

The presence of fossil fuel companies at universities around the companies is fundamentally corrupting to research, education, and community.

We oppose #woodsideenergy at @monashuniversity.bsky.social, and all the other partnerships exposed in this amazing report from @australiainstitute.org.au ✊🏼
Of Australia’s 37 public universities, 26 take money from fossil fuel companies, according to new Australia Institute research.

Coal and gas companies should not be funding science in the 2020s.

The science of climate change is clear. Universities teach it.

Amanda McKenzie, the CEO of the @climatecouncil.org.au, offered us some inspiring words on how we can influence change at the institutions we participate in.

Strategising how we win, and how we get @monashuniversity.bsky.social to abandon its partnership with #woodsideenergy, is important work! ✊🏼

Woodside Energy may keep up to 80% of Louisiana LNG project
Investing.com -- Woodside (OTC:WOPEY) Energy could retain as much as 80% of the holding company for its $17.5 billion Louisiana LNG project in the U.S. as it continues discussions with potential partners, including Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Aramco (TADAWUL:2222). Chief Executive Meg O’Neill said in an interview that Woodside aims to sell 20%-30% of Louisiana LNG, which it acquired through the $900 million takeover of Tellurian (NYSE:TELL) last year. The company has been in negotiations for months and decided in April to approve construction of the project before finalizing any sell-down of the holding company. "We’re in no rush," O’Neill stated. "We’ll be disciplined." Woodside’s patient approach is partly due to an earlier $5.7 billion deal with Stonepeak, which purchased a 40% interest in the entity that owns infrastructure supporting Louisiana LNG. Under this agreement, Stonepeak’s contribution would come early, supporting 75% of capital expenditure on the project this year and in 2026. Woodside Energy clocks 24% profit slide in H1 on weak oil prices
Investing.com-- Australia’s Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX:WDS) clocked a sharp drop in its first-half profit on Tuesday, as it grappled with lower realized oil prices and depreciation costs in a Senegal project. Woodside’s underlying net profit after tax for the first six months of 2025 fell 24% to $1.25 billion, in line with market estimates. The company saw a lower realized price on oil in the first half, especially as spot oil prices tumbled on concerns over higher OPEC+ production, weaker demand, and uncertainty over U.S. trade tariffs. Woodside (OTC:WOPEY) realized an average price of $61.8 per barrel, down from $62.6 per barrel a year ago. Woodside’s margins were also pressured by depreciation and amortization costs at its Sangomar project in Senegal, which amounted to $773 million. Still, Woodside’s operating revenue rose 10% to $6.59 billion, with the Sangomar project adding nearly $1 billion to revenue. The company declared an interim dividend of 53 cents per share, lower than the 69 cents from a year ago. Woodside signaled that it was continuing to seek sell-downs of its $17.5 billion LNG project in Louisiana, and that it had received “strong interest from high-quality potential partners” for the project. The company in June said U.S. investment house Stonepeak will invest $5.7 billion in Louisiana LNG. Woodside’s shares fell 1.6% in Sydney trade, while the broader ASX 200 index shed 0.7%.

@monashuniversity.bsky.social has given the #monash community a ridiculously short consultation period for their ESG policy revision.

SWM has concerns, and believe that any meaningful ESG policy would conclude that the partnership with #WoodsideEnergy is not tenable.

Help us tell that to the Uni!

WDS jumped 3.72% today, as strong second-quarter revenue growth and a supportive oil price environment set the bulls in motion.

The stock closed at A$26.20, a gain of A$0.94, marking its highest close of the year.

Every single young Australian would need to order 4,888 t-shirts from Temu each year (13 per day) to match Woodside's current emissions.

And to reach Woodside's maximum emissions estimates for the North West Shelf Extension? They would each need to order 214,571 t-shirts. #woodsideenergy

Woodside holds AGM and spills a little oil.

Nothing to see here, only ~64,000 litres of water, hydrocarbons and chemicals.

Maybe a little radioactive stuff too but who's looking?

It's not just carbon pollution from burning Woodside's gas that's toxic.

Great article, worth reading. 👇
