Grabbed 30 mins in the garage this morning to measure some valve clearances on the '87 XL600V.

Not too bad. A couple of tight intake valves, and a loose exhaust valve. These first edition '87 models had unusually low clearances (0.1mm) compared to later models (0.15 - 0.2mm from '90 onwards) 🏍️

Progress! Carbs off, valve covers off, front wheel off, forks off. This thing is beautifully put together, and easy to pull apart.

Next: hoops re-shoed, forks reconditioned by the local shop, and I'll tackle valve clearances and gaskets. Then it's cleaning, reassembly, and certification 🤞🏍️
