okay fourth wing thoughts are in: 4.25/5 🌟

bingeable, exciting, engrossing, definitely a little slump inducing. I enjoyed it!!

why it’s not a 5 ⭐️ for me:

1. slow beginning with poor writing (it gets better tho)
2. MMC is a rhysand dupe—fine but not ideal
3. tongue sucking 🤮 enough said lol

I listened to 38 audiobooks in 2025. Here's my list in the order I enjoyed them.

Major highlights:
--Omar El Akkad's remarkable essay/memoir on Palestine
--John Ganz's book on the paleoconservative origins of Trump
--Lauren Markham's incredible activist journalism
--Kristin Lavransdatter (wow)

I read the entire Empyrean series and enjoyed the writing style, story line, etc. But the ending really sucked! Actually it didn't HAVE an ending! Like Yarros intended to write another installment, but decided to start on another series instead! I won't bother reading another of her series.

An intense and fun followup to #FourthWing Basic YA-meets-romantasy. A good, action-y novel for when you're craving that kind of thing 6/10 💙📚 #booksky #booklover #bookish #bookrec #bookreview #reading #readmore #rebeccayarros #ironflame #romantasy #spicy #dragons #fiction #fantasy #action #romance

What’s wild is she basically describes reading Yarros’ work the same way in her degeneracy video & even compares it to doing hard drugs. Ironic when her videos are genuinely like downing a shot of everclear & headbutting a wall for me, it’s not a fun experience & gives me a headache.

Just finished book 12 of He Who Fights With Monsters, which means I’m in Unfinished Book Series Purgatory. It’s a place I’m well-acquainted with, having been here with Rothfuss, Martin, Muir, Yarros, etc. Anyone want to recommend another good unfinished series I can dive into masochistically?

Si gente tan mediocre como Mercedes Ron, Rebecca Yarros o Sandor Branderson pueden escribir libros, yo también.

I wasn't joking here btw

And I'm sorry, I don't care that both interviewer and interviewee here appear to be women. All the book examples that I can make out in the background collage are books by women. "BookTok" at this point is shorthand for "women who talk about books online". 🤷
