Gas stations are crime vectors. They need to be treated as the public safety camcer they are by city statues. Especially zoning.

Gas stations and drive thrus should be nowhere near homes, schools, daycares, hospitals, parks. Let's ensure our zoning code treats them as the public health and safety threat that they are.

NEW:
Denver City Council ends parking minimums! 9-3 vote (No: Gilmore, Sawyer, Flynn)

Old code required market-rate apartments to have 1 parking space per dwelling unit & restaurants to have nearly 4 parking spaces per 1,000 sq ft of indoor space.

Big win for YIMBY

The housing crisis is a supply and demand issue. Building more housing pushes rent down.

With our new land-use plan and our upcoming zoning overhaul, St. Louis is on the right track. In the meantime, our focus should be on density, density, density.

This drive thru coffee on Hampton has a floor to area ratio (FAR) of 0.05. The fast food drive thru proposal on Kingshighway approved by the Board of Adjustment yesterday has a FAR of 0.06. #Stl zoning code has max FARs, maybe there should be min FARs?

Rents in Spokane are down 12% as a result of pro-housing legislation, like removing parking minimums, incentivizing housing on former parking lots, and upzoning all residential parcels.

Subdividing 7201 Southwest is on the June 25 Board of Adjustment agenda. Great to see an increase in land productivity! Stupid our zoning doesn't allow this two-family by default.

Global average temperature is expected to rise to almost 2C above preindustrial in the next five years, according to the WMO, with falls in crop yields and more than a third of the world’s population being exposed to extreme heat.

People, I'm sorry but we have to deal with this. Later is too late.

"Right now, market-rate apartments require one parking space per dwelling unit, with restaurants requiring nearly four parking spaces per 1,000 square feet of indoor space. Under the new proposal, developers would be able to choose how many parking spots, if any, to include in building plans."
Parking minimum requirements for new construction in Denver could soon go away for good
Under the new proposal, developers would be able to choose how many parking spots, if any, to include in building plans for businesses and apartment complexes.

In a new op-ed for Crains, I talk about the importance of ending parking mandates — particularly to support preservation and continued growth of the city’s beloved and valuable small-scale multifamily housing

Opinion: Want more affordable housing? Start by ending parking mandates.
Chicago’s iconic two- and three-flats are at risk. Reforming parking mandates could help preserve them and expand affordable housing across the city.

Thanks to U City's onerous parking mandates, tons more CO2 will heat the planet and rent will be higher for tenents for parking spaces that will be empty.

Great example
"the new requirements make for very expensive construction. I built a 4-fam on a lot that had a 15 unit on it years ago. We wanted greater density to lower the per unit cost as well as to make sure the project made economic sense. . NUTZ!"
