Holy crap, this is another level of “structural coercion”. I am outraged to hear this - and also sorry that you have to deal with this (and if you are facing this, who next?).

URGENT: The House is voting THIS WEEK on including a ban on health care for trans youth who are dependents of US military personnel. We reject this attack on lifesaving care that could lead to patients being coercively detransitioned. Please stand with us to protect trans youth.

As voucher programs expand, they worsen. In states with universal voucher programs, more of the public monies go to students already in private school and to wealthier families.
GOP states are embracing vouchers. Wealthy parents are benefitting.
Most of the beneficiaries are incoming kindergarteners or students already enrolled in private schools.

Work has been drying up for trans writers for years. Of course, part of this is bc work has been drying up for all journalists.

However, with trans issues as the top priority of the Republican party there's a strong journalistic argument for increasing or maintaining that capacity.

The empire of the United States most likely peaked with the end of the so-called Cold War that was hot for so many. The decline of the empire is signaled by the name of the so-called War on Terror, with Americans not realizing that the source of the Terror comes from inside of them.

Watch all the prison release videos from Syria. Let Syrians feed you a taste of freedom. Imagine your own society opening its doors and borders. Imagine being free one day yourself, truly free. That’s what this moment invites.

Thanks Murray Cooke for reminding us of the power of connecting in person - mobilizing, planning, evaluating, learning with and from each other. Social media tools can be useful in the process of building together, but cannot fill the void of missing mobilizations

I've finally made the switch over from Twitter.

It's good to have an alternative, but really, we need to be having in-person meetings and conversations with co-workers, friends, family, neighbours, strangers. And reading books and newspapers. And organizing for change.
