RFK Jr. was a literature and history major. In other words, he was spoon-fed Foucault, Derrida, and other humanities folks who made their name by contesting objectivity and science.

YOU created the monster, Humanities Professors.

Own it.

RFK Jr.: “Thank you [to the NIH] for public service. We’re going to give infectious disease a break for about eight years.”

Kennedy wants to take a “break” from studying infectious diseases like COVID-19 and measles.

RFK Jr. comes ‘home’ to his anti-vaccine group, commits to ‘a break’ for U.S. infectious disease research
He has suggested without evidence that researchers and pharmaceutical companies are driven by profit to neglect chronic conditions.

A list on #EpistemicInjustice has just been started: it's quite focused on philosophy & psy-disciplines but political theorists, post/de-colonial scholars & scholars of non-western standpoints in politics, history, pedagogy etc. could be interested. And dare I say scholars of/working with #Foucault.

Dear #philsky I think we need a starter pack for people who work on epistemic injustice. Can be philosophers, psychologists, lived experience researchers, the sky is the limit! Suggest yourselves or others for inclusion in the replies. Thanks 🤩 go.bsky.app/RMAoxiW

Another European fig-leaf: this time, France's recognition of Palestine as a state. About time, but we're beyond the point where this makes any difference unless Western & Arab states *act* in compliance w/ their obligations under int'l law. Anything less leaves them accomplices.
andrea-teti.bsky.social
They have had nearly two years to *act* & have pointedly declined to do so, just as they have refused to act with any significance on Palestine for decades. They have a simple choice: DO something, or do nothing. Save lives or endorse their slaughter. Either way they're responsible for Gazans' fate.

Von Der Leyen & Kallas perform outrage at the killing of civilians at food distribution points. Not at the human-made starvation of Gaza, nor at the mass slaughter on daily display for nearly two years. The 'outrage' expressed by EU leaders is distasteful & disrespectful to Palestinians' suffering.
andrea-teti.bsky.social
Today yet again dozens of starving Gazans were being slaughtered and Israel bombed Syria & Lebanon. EU Foreign Ministers' response was to wave the crowd on: "Nothing to see here."
Utterly grotesque.

NEW: An Irish tourist visiting the US was jailed by ICE for 3 months after overstaying 3 days due to medical issue. Thomas agreed to be deported, but instead went to federal prison where he recounted horrific conditions + no medical care.

The #EU today has chosen to ignore international law, its own rules, basic morality & overwhelming evidence. Today's Foreign Affairs Council decision to do nothing about its Association Agreement with Israel seals both the EU's end as a "normative actor" and its complicity in genocide.

#Gaza
andrea-teti.bsky.social
In the process, it'll continue to erode int'l law, the shattered shards of the EU's 'normative power', and its strategic own objectives (e.g. security & stability) while undermining universal human rights and the rule of law at home. Let alone safeguarding the human rights of Palestinians.

As the EU Foreign Affairs Council discussions of Gaza & the EU-Israel Association Agreement begin it's worth keeping a few things in mind – I've collected my recent media articles and interviews on the issue.

Israel destroyed Gaza’s printing presses, publishing houses, and bookstores. These were homes to memory, knowledge, and cultural continuity. Ink and manuscripts turned to ash. Presses were silenced mid-sentence.

Over the coming week we'll hear a fair bit about the EU and its Association Agreement with Israel, what is or isn't 'legally' possible within the AA, procedures, Articles and voting majorities. This is a distraction. To see why, everyone please frame this comment by Acsecnarf Albanese:

Today EU Council President Antonio Costa said "the rules-based order needs ... Credible defenders, that uphold it consistently, without double standards" & "Europe has shown it can act."
So the EU *could* act on Palestine – it just doesn't want to?

Before anything else politicians, media & 'experts' must clearly state if they believe in the universality of #HumanRights & rule of law. ALL human rights –life, protest, resistance– are FOR all. They cannot be recognized for some but not others. This, at best, is hypocrisy. And stinks of racism.
