Call for Associate Editors.

NTR is seeking 3 experienced nicotine and tobacco researchers to join our editorial board.

See images below for information on how to apply.
Nicotine & Tobacco Research: Nicotine & Tobacco Research: Call for Associate Editors

Nicotine & Tobacco Research, the journal of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco, is seeking three experienced nicotine/tobacco researchers to join the editorial board of the journal as Associate Editors.

Associate Editors have typically been reviewers for journals for a few years and have a solid knowledge base in nicotine and tobacco research. We are seeking Associate Editors with specific expertise in qualitative methods; systematic reviewing, particularly review approaches in addition to meta-analysis; and mendelian randomisation. Associate Editors – brief role description

Associate Editors work with the Deputy Editors, and are assigned manuscripts by a Deputy Editor. Their role is to identify reviewers for manuscript, solicit reviews from those identified, ensure a timely review process, and provide a recommendation based on these reviews and their own interpretation to the handling Deputy Editor.

Associate Editors with specialist methodological expertise may be asked to provide targeted specialist review on manuscripts where it is deemed that this is necessary. They are typically either invited to provide a review by an Associate Editor, or their input is requested by a Deputy Editor.

Associate Editors serve for an initial 3-year term, which may be renewed for a further 3 years up to twice (i.e., three terms in total). Last year, Associate Editors handled an average of 7 manuscripts each. Application Process

Those wishing to be considered should send a brief (two page) CV and one page covering letter outlining their motivation for serving in this capacity to Margaret Searle (ntr.editorialoffice@gmail.com), by 31st March 2025. Applications will be reviewed by the senior Editorial Board (the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editors), and applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 25th April 2025.

The journal is keen to foster an editorial team environment that is inclusive and supportive of diverse ethnic, cultural and racial perspectives. We will therefore prioritise applications from traditionally under-represented and minoritised groups, from the Global South, and from Indigenous communities, as part of our efforts to increase the diversity of our editorial board and better represent our global community.

Informal enquiries should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief, Caitlin Notley (c.notley@uea.ac.uk).
