Agree. It's decision making and judgement, not button pushing.

We, editors, don't "count votes", and yes, we may make decisions that differ from your recommendation. And that doesn't mean we "are wrong".

New post on RestoRes's website. "New initiative seeks evidence for effective open science practices"

The Global Research Initiative on Open Science, officially launched last week, aims to identify what works (and what doesn’t) in Open Science worldwide.

People who come to my workshops on ai search engines are often frustrated because they want me to tell them which is best. With librarians it manifests as to asking which we subscribe to. Not a bad idea if idea is you trust preferences revealed by actions. But here's the issue . . (1)

So all of scholarly communications is entirely pointless? Hmm...

I really, really don't like these 'initiatives' (and I hate that they are called 'initiatives') but thankfully my team was relegated so my attention will mostly be elsewhere 😄

Oh #1 has caused Polgara, the rat-faced Drasnian, Tolnedra, Elrond, and Malloreans to start rattling around my brain 😀

Yes, just surprising to me the opening was business vocab rather than focus on books, scholarship, etc. Sage situation interesting to learn about.

Thank you! Hopefully your willingness to distill Still will still work well as the transfer rumour mill spills over...😀

I love writing that makes you want to urgently relisten or dig further into an artist's work. After reading this by Ian Penman via @mitpress.bsky.social I am hoping to experience some Satie 'riverine clarity' next week
The Many Sides of Erik Satie
“The Satie life contains so much murk; his music sparkles with riverine clarity.”

Odd wording choice for an email to authors - assets, portfolio, etc

Yes, and other audio. I don't know if audio papers or musical abstracts or listenable data remixes/collabs exist, but you should link up with Spotify to be ready for that!

Glad that ICMJE abandoned the list, but with thousands of journals it seems a big and costly challenge to create and manage a certification process that is equitable and reliable.

I wish there was a library of resources on research integrity methods and resources... Oh! Look.... 👍👏

Anyone can do post-publication peer review.
Anyone can be a steward of the scientific literature.
Anyone can do forensic metascience.
Anyone can sleuth.

That's why we are launching COSIG: the Collection of Open Science Integrity Guides, an open source resource for all of the above.

Some undefined work is happening hereabouts at some point. Maybe.
Temporary road sign informing about upcoming road works, but the numbers are all chaotically positioned
