they flirt with it early on, where he gets a lot of comedy episodes and cooperates with the team, sometimes framed more as an asshole than a monster, and the Ziyal stuff is clearly meant to humanize him. there’s a lesser show in which the new enemy of the Dominion makes allies of Bajor & Cardassia
