As long as democrats continue to make exceptions for corporations, their promise is impossible to prove. And while the republicans are obviously lying and racist, they do provide a handy outlet for people’s feelings of rage and helplessness. And there’s always someone new to blame.

The democratic messaging of “we can all have benefits and services if we all pay into the system” does not stand up against the Republican messaging of “the reason you don’t have stuff is immigrants. Take their stuff!!!” For one because the democrats don’t really mean it, and the republicans do.

Okay but they do understand. They want to hurt their constituents. Because the more broke they get, the more they want someone to blame, and the more powerful the Republican messaging becomes. Poverty and destruction of services benefits Republicans. They want it. Why is this hard to understand.
