I vaguely recall back in the 1990s colleagues were on other temporary but renewable visas which didn’t lead to citizenship. The wider effect is hard gauge given difficult situation in other uni systems too of course …

How will US universities cope with this new h1b visa rule? Pretty sure 100
years ago that was the visa I had when I worked at Fordham university.
