BOSTON LABOR DAY MARCH 9:30-11:30 - start at Statehouse and walk to City Hall. Be there!
Five ways of thinking about why faculty should stand together this Labor Day:
1. Higher Ed Alone Can’t Save Democracy. We need a united front—from higher ed, K–12, federal workers, health care staff, immigrants, and beyond.
2. Resistance Must Go Beyond the Courts. While AAUP is suing the Trump administration, we must also be “in the streets, fighting back, offering a different vision.” Labor Day actions help us begin putting that vision in motion.
3. Building Strong Coalitions: AAUP helped launch Labor for Higher Ed, uniting unions across the sector. AFT and MayDayStrong actions help to build power beyond our campuses and bargaining tables.
4. Visibility Fuels Growth: AAUP has gained thousands of new members in 2025 alone and added 40+ chapters. Labor Day actions are a chance to energize new members and strengthen our presence.
5. A Platform for Bold Demands: Mass action help us push a real vision: free public higher ed, research funding, an end to student debt and adjunctification, and educational opportunity outreach programs like TRIO.

Melissa Hortman's #philosophy degree was from #BostonUniversity, which is also my alma mater. An exemplary life of applied philosophical principles cut short.

Sorry you got a worthless feel good degree in an unrigorous field like electrical engineering that left you with zero marketable skills, should have majored in Classical Literature and you'd have a lucrative job doing DEI instead
