We welcome applications for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Global Film and Media Studies. We are

interested in applications from candidates who can expand the geographical and historical range of our subjects, and

particularly from those with expertise in East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and/or Latin America. Those with
expertise in indigenous media cultures from any region are also welcome. Film and Media Studies is a vibrant, always-
growing area of teaching and research in UCD, and we are seeking an excellent academic with a proven track record of teaching, research and publication to expand the range of our expertise. The post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of our expanding undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to collaborate with colleagues to build and promote the subject's reputation for excellence in research. Candidates will be asked to teach a first year module, Media and Globalization, as well as being able to offer ambitious and innovative ideas for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in aspects of their regional specialty, global cinemas and film histories, as well as research-focused modules for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate seminars.

While an undergrad at UCSC I took Tom Lehrer's Nature of Math course. A decade later I often saw him around Harvard Yard. After my appt to Oxford the college Math fellow wanted to know every detail of those fleeting memories: knowing someone who 'knew' Tom Lehrer gave him street cred. Thanks, Tom.

Call For Participants: Eurovision and International Politics

I'm looking for Eurovision fans to participate in an online focus group about how fans think about and interact with the politics of the Contest.

All fans aged 18 and older are welcome. If you’re a Eurovision fan and are interested in discussing Eurovision and politics, I’d like to hear from you!

What will taking part involve?
Participating in a focus groups with 6-8 Eurovision fans. The focus groups will be conducted online in English, and last around 90 minutes. The focus groups will be held in June and July.

I will ask you and the group questions about your views on whether and how the Contest relates to international politics, and on how you engage with these politics as a fan. 

You don’t need to have a particular opinion about whether the contest is political or not - only an interest in talking about Eurovision and politics as you understand it. Further Information
