The ending completely ruins High Tension — it’s not a twist if the movie just slaps the viewer in the face. Never again

Luckily when terrestrial television dies, we’ll be able to be completely dependent on disruptor billionaires who can’t budget properly and think all media is free and are probably going to go bust at the same time because it’s still just unproven spec tech, so that’ll be good.

Uh oh I’m listening to RJD2’s 2002 album “Deadringer” and thinking about the early aughts like I do once every three years!!!

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Over the weekend, I migrated one of my Django Apps from Gunicorn to Granian.

TLDR:
• The migration went smoothly.
• There were no visible performance gains.
• I still can't set a timeout for requests.

I also wrote a blog post about this: blog.pecar.me/migrating-g...

Most people don't realize that the success of their business depends on their nervous system.

It wants to keep you safe.
And coding more features feels safe.

4 self-sabotaging acts, you probably weren't aware of:

We can do better than Twitter, Bluesky and Mastodon, by taking the same approach we took with audio in podcasting, with text.

Predictably, it’s called textcasting.org.

The best years of your life are ahead of you. Also: don't overthink everything. You really can't control things, not even if you become a billionaire, look how crazy they go trying. Live, do your best day to day, be kind to yourself, and don't put things off hoping for the perfect moment.

Ooh this is on my list! It’s at least considered a classic. Looking forward to it

Unofficially, yes. 😇 Otherwise the list is basically every movie directed by Cronenberg, Kaufman, Gilliam, and Lynch. And that’s no fun
