If I wrote a book about a senile vindictive dictator wannabe running the country, including a bit where he starts tearing down the White House so he can rebuild it in his image… no decent editor, yada yada

This remains the funniest way to hear about an internet outage, though.
Oh my god that unlocks a core memory. Eighteen years. Wow.
To add to what CoY says, often these dogs or cats can be females used for breeding and then dumped once they're done or they get pregnant from the "wrong" male. Such ones often don't have a bad bone in them and will give you back twice the love you give them. Evidence attached! (Sadly, not our dog)
Dammit. #IndVEng #cwc25

Definitely the fourth-best team in the competition, if not lower.
Last night's focaccia, got lucky with intercepting the rise before it over-proved. Wish I had the correct-sized tray for vertical edges but it doesn't matter, it tasted fine! #BreadSky
I once - 2014ish - went to a wedding of an Indian guy and a Chinese girl, and their uni friends from all over the world. At the afterparty, the only song everyone was perfectly in sync with was the Macarena. I think discos all around the world are also helping keep it relevant.

...Hoga, Woh Mera, Intezaaaaaaar....
Close - the word is Kadhi. These days in North India and maybe the west it refers to a thin, yoghurt based curry. Curry leaves are literally Kadhi Patta.
My utter sympathies. I work in too specialised a field for it to be of any use in its current state at least. My team wouldn't really find LLMs useful really even if they were allowed them at work (and some do use them at home for experiments).
To add to what @plognark.bsky.social said, even for coding there are "offline" AI tools that means they don't burn huge amounts of energy for every little query you ask of them, and you can deploy them on your own servers, just update them once in a while from the vendor.
I like this framing. This view is shared across everyone I work with, from specialist engineers to Gen Z juniors.

I'm lucky that the people I work with aren't rushing head first into "AI" like it's a goldmine, but outside of that it seems to be a shit show.
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!
