I have been heartened to see that so far no university has caved. We long demanded that the institutions stick together and do no break ranks on the various extortions, with little success. This time seems different, fingers crossed.
three journalists from three different venues have told me that most academics won’t talk to them anymore, not even off the record. but i guess Tom here wants us to be more patient, because the SA is only in some cities, not all the cities.
If we were living under fascism, none of you would be here daring to post things. You'd be erasing your social media accounts and keeping your head down; you'd know that peacocking your faux-bravery on a network would expose you to being disappeared. You have no idea what "fascism" really means.
I know you didn't! just tired of the "soccer moms," no "wine moms," no "resistance moms" etc discourse. As far as I can tell, those folks are holding the country together, and they'll be the ones getting people to the mid-terms, if there should be mid-terms. That said, yes, a general strike? all in!
A general strike would be wonderful, but dunking on people doing and organizing protest is stupid. You want more than that, organize more than that, don't insult and condescend people who actually leave their house once in a while.
