Beth Macy never thought she would run for Congress. But she knows democracy is on the line and couldn't resist the pleas of those who believe she's the only candidate who can beat the awful Ben Cline.

And if she flips this red seat in western Virginia, no more Speaker Johnson.

It's weird how huge R.E.M. was. Nirvana got even bigger, thanks in large part to them, but going from, like, Poison to Automatic for the People seemed to portend great things for Generation X. But obviously not!

Huh. Might explain why our credit union was able build at least three new branches that take up half a block in the last two years,
Despite holding just 10 percent of all banking deposits in the U.S., credit unions charge 47 percent of the total industry’s overdraft fees.
There's now 1 Trump-y regulator left, after Trump fired the 2 Democrats from the industry's main oversight board. prospect.org/2025/11/25/c...
Credit Unions Go Large and Go Rogue - The American Prospect
Intended to bolster local access to lending, large credit unions today are swallowing up community banks. A Trump purge has reduced their oversight.

It's not Terminator, but it is Office Space with the managers all trying to fuck robots.
It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The government hasn't purposely taken health insurance from Americans since Reagan's cuts kicked 600,000 off Medicaid in the early 80s.

And it has never deliberately deprived millions of coverage they already have.

If the Republicans don't pay dearly for this, everything is at risk.
The Trump health care proposal that would extend ACA subsidies for 2 years has been put on hold by House Republicans who can't stand seeing people covered. But that plan had a lot of stuff in it that would worsen insurance and raise prices, @ryanlcooper.com and I write.
Trump’s Obamacare Plan Is Still Not Great - The American Prospect
The Republican plan to more than double premiums is gone, but the insurance will get worse, and the poor will pay more.

A full war of choice in Venezuela would be far worse, but the ways Trump has used Venezuela to assault the Constitution are already a national emergency.
Trump's illegal war on Venezuela is a sneak attack on our freedom
We must force to Congress debate and vote on it.

A Democrat who was elected sheriff in Pennsylvania this month hopes others are watching: “It sends a message to elected public safety officials across the country that partnering with ICE is a loser in a district that’s remotely a swing district.”
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE
A populous swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

If you got a more corrupt president, name him!
Does the BBC think it's improper for a speaker to state their opinion that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history?

Because I think almost all historians would readily agree that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history.
BBC censors a lecture removing author’s remarks on Trump that refer to him a the most openly corrupt American president.
