We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents with Border Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 37 people in the raid.

Denver too! Don’t know that we ever really ran them out unfortunately, but we made it clear we weren’t gonna tolerate their shit in the alternative scene back then.

BREAKING: Our client Mario Guevara, an Emmy-winning journalist detained by ICE in retaliation for livestreaming law enforcement activity, will be deported tomorrow to El Salvador.

Mario and his family are being punished for his reporting. This cruelty is meant to stifle our free press.
Yes! So many of our societal “ills” and dysfunction in the US could maybe not be totally solved, but definitely made far far better with universal healthcare!
At this point, barely being able to afford health insurance in my 50’s, my health care plan should I have a cancer or other terrible illness diagnosis when I’m elderly, is to “Midsommar” off a cliff.
Bleak yes, but I won’t saddle my husband/family with crushing medical debt.
In the past few months I know 2 people that have let their cancer take its course and died (one was very much treatable) than risk saddling family with crushing medical debt from treatments. My husband and I-we can no longer afford health insurance so we’ve set up life insurance policies at least

If you or anyone you know is wondering what is REALLY going on with the shutdown…

Watch every second of this. I Promise it’s worth your time.

Or living paycheck to paycheck, where cost of living is quickly outpacing wages, have zero assets, medical debt, caring for children, caring for elderly parents (or both) and try to do what you can, send letters etc, but if you miss one day of work and get fired then you just might end up homeless.
Spent nearly 2 weeks knocked down with what I suspect was Covid. But it was nice in that I mostly “unplugged “ and read several books. I pop back online a few days ago—Geezus …
here’s a picture of my husband who had just scooped up our dog Breezy to keep her from leaping into the fountain.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.
Autopsy revealed his hyoid bone was broken— sure that can happen in cases of suicide but it’s rare due to the amount of force it takes. And the ME said the amount of trauma to not just the hyoid bone but his neck injuries as a whole were consistent with homicidal strangulation.
Saw what looked like a prison bus ahead of me on east bound I-90 in central WA, as I past it saw that it was a GEO Group ICE transport vehicle. It made my stomach drop—I know it’s not nearly the same (yet?) but all I could think of were 1930’s trains disappearing people. Inhumanity in plain sight.

This is just sick.

via @ktla.com: Footage obtained by KTLA shows a young man crying, saying his mother had just been taken, and children and protesters running from tear gas that was deployed when a crowd gathered at an immigration raid at a Ventura County farm this afternoon

2. Dogs are super sensitive and feel everything around them. If the vibe shifts, they can panic, bolt, bite -usually out of fear! I say this as someone raised in a veterinary family and have been working in rescue since the ’80s: your dog will be safer and way happier at home, just waiting for you.
1. I know folks love bringing their dogs everywhere, me too, but that’s exactly why they’re often better off at home. Even chill events like a small town parade or farmers market can overwhelm them. Crowds, smells, and then pack on emotions, it can be a lot, even if they seem fine…

A reminder to reporters, when historians look back on this moment with the president throwing himself a military parade and the people throwing No Kings rallies across America, the media sources raving about the former and sneering at the latter are going to be quoted by name.

This is your legacy!

It’s not hyperbole to say that the deaths in Minnesota are on the GOP’s hands. They’ve built this political environment and they’ve allowed a demagogue to spread hate. This is entirely on them.
I can’t even imagine the fear— I can try…but I’ll never truly know. My heart goes out to you and other parents having had to always live with such fears for their children that now are escalating more and more with scarier implications. 😞
