Alice came out to her best friend, Lucy when she was sixteen, to her sister, Kate a few months later. She didn’t come out to me. Why not? Probably because I’d absorbed media transphobia 1/10

So much manipulation in their post. I never told Alice she was born in the wrong body. And she was over 18 before she received any gender affirming care. Not a minor.

Of course I still think the transphobia in our media, NHS, government, judiciary is very newsworthy, now more than ever, but at the time the death of one trans person was a trifle compared to the deaths abroad. Just as the erosion of the human rights of our citizens remains a trifle to most people.

For months I’d joked that we needed a slow news day, that a national treasure like Elton John better not die and steal our thunder. In the end it was something far more newsworthy and sinister that kept us off the front pages.
SEEN saying we got media saturation is lies. Because that’s what they do.

I’ll never know, but I sometimes wonder if the public discourse about trans people may have been able to take a different route if my family’s efforts had received the level of attention other families receive when they risk huge personal distress to go public and share their story to help others.

this phrase alone tells you what lying shits they are. Alice’s inquest concluded in the week between Hamas attacking Israel and Israel retaliating. Alice’s death would have received mass media coverage but was almost entirely dismissed because of a rapidly evolving international crisis overseas.

GCs doing their thing, being utter ghouls about the suicide of a young trans person. Claiming a lack of news coverage as a victory for their cause.

Alice’s death got coverage because my family sought press attention to highlight the appalling state of trans healthcare.

As for saturation coverage…

It’s an absolutely shameful decision of the court. It’s transphobic bullshit. I’ve been reading the thread. Men can lie about having had a vasectomy and leave a woman pregnant and that is apparently fine. It’s fucked up.

I am writing an afterword for the paperback of Her Name Is Alice which comes out in March. I have a 3000 word limit and I'm writing a first draft and I'm already at 9k and have barely started! It must be so frustrating trying to find an agent. I was incredibly lucky.

Has anyone made this FOI request of the south-west and the London CYP Gender services?

This post ⬇️relates to the north-west service, where not one young person has been offered medical transition since the service was opened over a year ago.

This isn't treatment. It's state sanctioned conversion.

#UK #TransRights An FOI has just confirmed what all of us have feared: for the Youth gender services, since July 2024, not a single patient has been referred to commence HRT. And 22 have been moved from youth to adult services , also without treatment. This is scandalous.

Broken hearted is a term I try to avoid. It wound me up so much when people told me they were heartbroken over Alice. A voice screamed in my head, no you're not, even my heart's still beating, stfu...you never cared about her when she was alive, stop the bullshit, why are you saying this to me?!

Thanks. It wasn’t all plain sailing. I encountered GC sentiment both outside conference, Greens in Exile and the Green Women’s Declaration and inside, from one individual who tried to join my table for the quiz. This was handled beautifully by an established party member to whom I am very grateful.

I joined the Greens in June. Conference last weekend felt like a kind of homecoming. I’ve been adrift these last few years, mourning Alice, despairing at a ruling class that seems intents on heaping misery on all minorities. In the depths of grief hope wasn’t enough, but now it breaths life into me.

US news. A judge who ruled against Trump has been doxxed and receiving death threats. Now members of her family have been seriously injured escaping from this huge blast at her home. It’s being investigated as a possible arson attack.
