This is why I’m here:

🧵Trigger warning: suicide

I am the proud mum of a trans woman, Alice.

Alice came out to her best friend, Lucy when she was sixteen, to her sister, Kate a few months later. She didn’t come out to me. Why not? Probably because I’d absorbed media transphobia 1/10

Of course they put this behind a pay wall.

“There are moments when I catch myself wishing she would just discover she wants to live as a boy,” says Ruby’s mum, “not because I doubt her identity but because I fear for her future in the UK."

The only person to come out of the SPeggie/NHS tribunal vindicated and with a completely untarnished reputation is Dr Beth Upton.

Not SPeggie,
Not the NHS management,
Not Four Women Scotland,
Not the media,

Just Dr Upton.

I’m so tired of cis friends sending me shit like this AFTER I’ve explained the detail of the Peggie case.

“I found the BBC reporting interesting. Am I gullible believing it? My kids who get their (?fake) news from TikTok think I believe mainstream media cos I’m old and ‘part of the establishment!’

We are hearing that those few who were on NHS GIDS prescribed puberty blockers before GIDS closed, who were transferred to a small legacy clinic at Nottingham, are now being told all referrals for MDT panel approval to start hormones have been stopped. 1/2

This is delicious. Forstater basically comes across as insufferably opinionated with delusions of expertise. Her attempts to pass off Sex Matters research as credible evidence is recognised as unreliable and roundly dismissed.
Oh this was good.

"Whilst the claimant argued that Ms Forstater was not presented as an expert witness, in our view that is
essentially what she was doing. She was giving evidence on matters of opinion dressed up as matters of fact."

Today’s announcement from Girlguiding to reverse their previous trans-inclusive policy will come as painful news for many families.

We know GirlGuiding has worked for years to include trans girls and to offer them the same opportunities as their peers.

To all those feeing sorry for Girlguiding this morning…they have the cash and could have fought a court case.

Their proclamations of care and concern, dignity and respect are meaningless drivel.

This morning’s stream of consciousness, stemming from
the girl guide trans ban and my despair at the power of the GC movement.
Nothing should surprise us about those spearheading the GC movement. But something deep inside me is programmed to be hopeful and expect better, expect reflection and empathy and to be treated as if I and those I love matter. When it doesn’t come it’s incredibly triggering and hard to tolerate.

The Girl Guide announcement.

What can I say?

I’m imagining if it was my child - the conversations and explanations, the apologies, “I’m sorry, so sorry,” trying to comfort but feeling a failure because I couldn’t protect her from GC hate.

And the child and parents - a little bit more broken.

I need more stuff like this on my timeline.
So let me get this straight, you've created a vending machine for Crows? Yup.
And and you've trained them to 'buy' seeds by dropping cigarette butts into a slot? Yup.
And this idea emerged as an urban refuse solution? Yup.
Wow.

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

In related news, a bunch of transphobes have been trying to start an argument with me for the last couple of days and why would I engage in that when I could do pretty much anything else instead?
The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

Like all terfs, they are totally complacent in their unaccountabilty. They use smears when they absolutely have to, otherwise their method is just to ignore, ignore, ignore until accusations scroll off the timeline. I've never been able to get a single one of them to even *acknowledge* this perjury.

Why is Starmer talking about the homophobic attack on his niece news now? He first mentioned it last year and it was widely ignored by the mainstream press.

I wonder. Could it be his response to the Mamdani effect?
