We're at the point in the story where the FBI is showing up at a dude's house because he attended a protest. Without suspicion of a crime, agents ask important questions like who produced signs for the event.

And it had an impact--he decided not to go back to the streets to voice his opinions.
I obtained video of two FBI agents visiting an anti-ICE protester not charged with any crime.

While the media continue to mock Trump's war on "Antifa" as legally impossible, the FBI is quietly implementing it with investigations like these:

A very incomplete list of things we wouldn't have done if we waited for the normies to care:

- abolish slavery
- child labor laws
- votes for women
- social security
- fdic
- welfare
- medicare
- medicaid
- desegregation
- women's sports
"normies do not care about this thing and so it is no use raising a stink" is imho just an excuse for not doing politics, which is the job of making normies care about something

“During the Civil War, Congress passed the 1864 Yosemite Act … The American people, says Diamant, should know that their national parks were conceived as a promise to them after a violent and bloody conflict—the promise of a better future, that their sacrifice wouldn’t be for naught.”
“‘Over the next three years or so, unless Congress steps in, the Park Service will be pretty seriously damaged, you might almost say dismantled,’ says former NPS director Jonathan Jarvis, who served as the agency’s head from 2009 to 2017…
What’s the Trump Administration’s End Game for the National Parks?
We saw it in Yosemite. But you have to look beyond the bathrooms.

This is amazing, all! My initial offer to match $500 in food bank donations tonight was quickly used up, but many stepped in to match too, & by my count we've given more than $2,200 to food banks tonight! Go fabulous BlueSky community!! 💪

See thread for more donations awaiting matchers 🔥

Alright, team Bluesky: US foodbanks are about to have staggering demand when SNAP ends Nov 1st. We need to help them prepare.

I'll match donations: DM or reply with a receipt showing your own donation to a food bank of your choice, and I'll donate to match, up to a total of $500. 💪🥗🍲🥚🥧🥪🥣🥛

will there be any followup to this fascinating story by the president of the united states that a friend of his sent him a check for $130 million dollars and the president is going to give the money to the military because i for one am fascinated about the details tbh
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."
Sadly, falling pieces of concrete will just kill whoever is unlucky enough to walk by at the wrong moment.
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend anyone saying they'd die for this shit unless they meant it.

I'm 100% sure he MEANT IT. 🙏❤️

Kids, I’m not going to change the way I write just because a shitty AI uses the same punctuation I use, after it was trained on MY fucking writing.
Or just stop buying coffee at a coffee shop for a month, make coffee at home, and take those savings and put them toward the now higher cost of the goddamn game if you REALLY want it.

Too many people didn't grow up with frugal parents and it really shows, lol.
The responses this post is getting, combined with the animating grievances of large swathes of politics, has convinced me we need a kind of society wide PSA about how Buying Things Is Optional.

You don’t think video games should cost $100? Don’t buy the videogame. Buying Things Is Optional.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

No coincidence, either that the masked thief just happens to be a Black man. *Sigh*
There IS no simple test to diagnose perimenopause and many docs (including gynecologists!) are clueless about it so it's worth reading up on BEFORE you might be in perimenopause.
Worth reading for anyone who might currently be in perimenopause, which can last as long as 10 years and often starts in your 40s.

Tell me a scenario in which Trump accepts that his completed ballroom is being used by a Democrat or a Republican he hates. This is, literally, a monument to permanence. It’s not the action of someone planning to leave.

That autocratic presumption is at the heart of his tariffs, his deployments of the guard, etc. So much of what’s going on. And as Larry documents, outlets like the Times are bending over backwards to make his best case for him.
It is shocking that Trump is quickly tearing down a portion of the White House. But isn’t the bigger story that this action is of a piece with his autocratic presumption that he can unilaterally destroy public goods without any public consultation or explanation?

People across the country are fighting for their lives and also to protect their neighbors. They are doing so in the 100s of thousands every single day. You can choose to join the fight or you can pretend that "no one is doing anything."

Been thinking about how MAHA in its current articulation is a movement that allows them to harness people's real and justified anger at things like the betrayals of healthcare and insurance and turn it on scientists as scapegoats, by using conspiracy theories
