relaxed saturday evening reading through "women designers of book plates (1902)" and flipped past a couple of beautiful professional designs only to see this perfect plate by a young Miss Page
an open book with a hand-drawn bookplate on the right side. the top of the plate has "A. Helen Page" written in tentative cursive. below that is a child's drawing of a girl with wavy hair and a triangle skirt. at the bottom, in tentative print "HER BOOK 1899"

I’m not trying to give @pbs.org ideas for raising money—but I am. I would buy women’s fit T-shirts of all my favorite childhood shows. Reading rainbow, 321 contact, square one, zoobiliee zoo. I feel like two generations will run to donate even more money for shirts with Levar Burton on them…

It is good to see truth in packaging when one goes to the store!
A can of Hunt's Crushed Tomatoes at the grocery store. The can is literally crushed!

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “
Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”

wow, I've known about this with highways but hadn't heard of it as a pattern for colleges, now I know.

their new stores the last few years in VT and NH have been disappointing to me compared to stores I knew years ago in other states. not sure if that was a national quality slide or just in newer stores.

"The people who are so quick to take down DEI are growing their 401(k) savings accounts off the backs of what DEI is delivering.

Diversity is, and always will be, an emerging market." was not even in their financial interest

Please - stop doing the screenshot no link thing on Bluesky. This platform does not punish you for posting a URL. You picked up the habit from Meta apps? Stop doing Mark Z's bidding. Link ESPECIALLY to authors, reporters, bloggers, etc. where you quote the work.

I mean... As someone who remembers when things actually worked, I understand why so many people are going Full Karen these days 😂

This is up there w/ "can't order a quesadilla at Chipotle at the counter, only thru the app" and "can't reserve a hotel room at the front desk, only online."

Bless.

Cannot be repeated enough: this was not a voluntary resignation program. Workers were told they were more valuable in the private sector, that they might be fired from their jobs, that they could expect no reasonable work accommodations, that they would work for leaders who were undermining services

in some cases pushing out excellent employees and then paying them not to work, both wrong

As a retd ATL ATC I went through numerous shutdowns & the disgust of going to work week upon week without paying is palatable. Yes we get paid eventually, but not getting a paycheck for a month or so, & then usually having it messed up because of calculation error sucks. Then it takes months to fix

Planes still fly. Social Security checks still arrive. The real shutdown is trust in our politics. Here’s my first-hand look at what a government shutdown is—and isn’t.

The long reckoning of income concentration at the top, and wasting money and other resources on crypto cartoons, AI, etc. I see an uptick in local businesses closing from multiple factors.

There is an increasing threat of heavy rainfall early next week from coastal Georgia through the Carolinas and into the southern Mid-Atlantic states, which could cause flash, urban, and river flooding.
