🧵 regarding the shutdown:

The Democrats aren’t being clear enough about this but we can be: this shutdown is about saving lives.

If we don’t reverse the Medicaid cuts (and the ACA subsidies on insurance bought through the exchanges) that Republicans made this year, people will die.

Okay, there's a really cool reason for these groupings, based on evolution.

First, the "oh hi doggies" are almost invariably fruit or nectar eaters, relying on eyesight & smell to locate non-moving food. No sonar.

To the insect-eaters: there are two ways to emit 'sonar' pulses: nose or mouth.

On the left - western blot of B16F10 cells wt and KO for CDK8. Our in house produced antibodies give a lot of unspecific bands. On the right same probes with antibodies preincubated with fixed CDK8 KO cells - there is a specific band and faint unspecific bands, which can be probably eliminated with increase of amount of KO cells.

It's highly unusual for a Ph.D. candidate in STEM to take classes outside of their area without a clear rationale that's relevant to their degree program. Grad students who just want to learn would usually sit in / audit without formal enrollment.
