Disaster Nationalism argument from @leninology.bsky.social is v good. Our elites say that if you're not well off it must be your own fault, not the system, and so your situation shouldn't be addressed politically. But you can join in and hate the immigrants - and release your resentment that way.

Even more so because it actually requires production - in "mining" operations that take huge inputs of equipment and energy to produce pure exchange value, and no use value whatsoever, all the while causing just as much ecological damage as regular production. Impressively perverse!
