More cultural influencers who happily « brand » themselves as car-less #bike riders for local transportation in their #cities *and* journalists like @emilynussbaum.bsky.social @newyorker.com who include that point = #ClimateInfluence | See yourself riding more for short trips!

Me too. PDX weirdness always brings me joy. Loved living there back when, and love amplifying their hijinks. :-)

Our nation's federal employees are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet.

They make sure we have clean water.

They protect us from financial fraud.

They provide healthcare to our communities.

They make our government actually work for people.

Do not forget this.

EXACTLY ! It really influences people to see those they admire riding! Yes!

#NameAndFame examples of #CoveringClimate *without writing about it directly*. Mention that newsmakers ride/take transit for local transportation or if it comes up that they are #plantbased or #vegan. No hard sell needed. Just casually drop examples and they will add up. cc: @coveringclimatenow.org

Keri Russell has long been known to prioritize the biking way of life. We need more « surprising validators «  in culture and business roles to be seen doing the same. It’s how we can nudge a big #lesscar #socialnorm shift. This is my mission. www.newyorker.com/newsletter/t...

Make safe bike riding in all cities more accessible.

Even though nobody wears bike helmets in the Netherlands, the fatality rate there is significantly smaller than that of the United States. What have they figured out that we haven't?
How I Learned to Cycle Like a Dutchman
In the bike-friendly Netherlands, cyclists speed down the road without fearing cars. For an American, the prospect is thrilling—and terrifying.

Yay! I love the community of community radio in North America. We can get through this mess of a world with amazing music and the *humans* curating it at stations like yours and KEXP. We can’t forget this truth :-)
andrealearned.bsky.social
If I have helped even one of my followers here discover #KEXP , I feel like my #JoyAsAnActOfResistance job is done...

People - give it a listen (and consider donating).

This is among the amazing U.S. #communityradio #publicradio stations no longer even partially funded by CPB.

Seems like there is a lot of potential to tell more "surprising stories" of people of influence (however that needs to be defined to reach each particular audience) who have converted to living car-light or carless. These people exist. Let's #NameAndFame them to help shift social norms quickly.

"Cars ruin everything,” warns a section of Life After Cars. If so, the first step toward reversing the damage is getting more people to recognize the problem." 👇
