Working to put myself back together after covid did its damnedest to break me apart. Again. Wife to Husband, mom to Kids 1, 2, & 3. All cat pictures may be shared with my mom. Will block if you want to pick a fight. Ain’t nobody got spoons for that.

Reupping and pinning this thread because I think it’s important.

Long covid is awful. If I can help even one person get their life back by just sharing… well, that’s not nothing.
angelaisms.bsky.social
Guys, I think it’s time to share more about my #LongCovid recovery.

I had long covid from August 2022-May 2024. A total of 21 months. I had given up on ever feeling whole again.

Everything changed through a friend-of-a-friend connection to a company called Epi1.

Thread.

In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.

She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.

This is not about immigration enforcement.

It's about terrorizing Americans.

painstakingly and with massive resistance) over the course of its history.

So when people argue "it's always sucked, what do you expect," they are 100% playing into MAGA's hands and, frankly, trashing the efforts of their own ancestors to make this a better place (which, in the long run, they did).

MAGA would regard you as a welcome ally in their campaign to delete the memory and stories of the millions of Americans who have struggled for centuries to perfect our democracy.

How has most of those 250 been for anyone that wasn’t a wealthy white man?
angelaisms.bsky.social
I’m really sorry to hear that. And I agree with what you’re saying here too — the fact that there are times to cut ties doesn’t make it okay when you see others bragging about casting aside relationships as though they were fingernail clippings.

I feel lots of things that felt like, were billed as, self-actualization read in retrospect as canaries in the coal mine for the fraying commitments we owe to each other as members of a society.

Relatedly, I recall a lot of "the joy of canceling plans" jokes and memes from the 2010s and now folks are talking about a loneliness epidemic, and, well...

People will scoff at virtue signaling and then wonder why today’s billionaires don’t build museums, libraries, hospitals, and universities like Gilded Age ones did.

Shorter Mike Johnson: “Submit!”

Mike Johnson: "This hate America rally that they have coming up for October 18? The antifa crowd, the pro-Hamas crowd, and the Marxists, they're all gonna gather on the Mall. It is an outrageous gathering for outrageous purposes ... all this has gotta come to an end."

ICE left David, a 17-year-old boy, stranded on the side of Interstate 20 after pulling over his immigrant father, Hector, in Mississippi.

David began running in the scorching sun after the car and watched as it disappeared from sight—soon headed to a Louisiana ICE prison.

Here's their story.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

But especially Reagan judges who actually believed every word about liberty, democracy, and the American Way.

Their anger is vicariously *scary* when deployed against MAGA tyranny.

As a group, District Judges (from across the ideological spectrum!) performing as well as just about anyone right now in defending democratic liberty.

Okay,

So our troops will be working but not getting paid.

While the Republican House Members will be away from work but getting paid.

Allrighty then.

Speaker Johnson just declared the House will remain in recess all next week. This will mark a full month off; the chamber has not been in session since September 19.

They’re not nearly as juicy, so you’d have to work with that.

They are definitely an under appreciated fruit.

They look like orange tomatoes with Peter Pan collars. They taste nothing like tomatoes though.

Persimmon pie is, I’m told, quite similar to pumpkin pie.

Which makes sense. They taste like fall. :)

The last time it did this was 2022, and I tried making jam with it. It didn’t jam very well, so it had a consistency more like apple butter. But it was super yummy.

Also very good for fresh eating.
angelaisms.bsky.social
I need to be better about giving it its fertilizer spikes in the growing season too I think. :(

This little tree fruited the year I put it in the ground, which doesn’t really happen often, I don’t think.
angelaisms.bsky.social
Well, it is unbalanced, but also I think it’s just making too much for its trunk to bear up. Kid1 and I went out earlier with a tree stake kit to see if we could brace it, and the top of the tree is literally too heavy to lift very high.
angelaisms.bsky.social
Ooooh, learning new stuff! Excellent!

Is there a rooting compound you’d recommend? So I can have it ready to go.
angelaisms.bsky.social
Dang. It is literally too heavy for us to pull it upright.

It is the second time this tree has done this, so she might be okay until it’s all ripe. Last time was 2022.
angelaisms.bsky.social
I have a kit somewhere. I’ll look around for it.
angelaisms.bsky.social
They’ll be ripe next month.
