Yes but…Sometimes exceptions have to be made. That said Maria Machado spoke about Trump with dignity.

❗️Reportedly, these are armed uniformed Russian men at the Estonia-Russia border.

Friends from Estonia, could you please provide more details? Thank you!

Well, I do think Farage had a lot to do with the implementation of Boris’s & Frost’s (remember him?) mad Hard Brexit. Bojo didn’t want to be vulnerable to Farage saying his Brexit wasn’t hard enough. Ditto Bojo’s points-based immigration policy. Also 100% Farage. I’m with Starmer on this.

‘Denouncement’. Hmm. Denunciation.

Margaret Thatcher recognised the need to provide asylum for refugees, as well as the need to distinguish them from immigrants. No hope of that from her successors, of course.

What with all this the UK should emulate Dubai stuff, following hot on the heels of Singapore model, are there any other niche authoritarian city states we could go for? Brunei? Machiavelli’s Florence? Ancient Sparta?

If one the two biggest peace issues right now is ending the Gaza war, the failure of the Oslo Nobel Cmtee to give Trump the prize, could prove a massive missed chance to support peace in practice, rather than in smug cosy theory.

Perhaps the Cllrs will now stand for re-election? Campaigning on broken promises would be entertaining.

I find this genuinely fascinating because Reform seem to have genuinely believed that there was a big pot of untapped wealth and massively wasteful spending going on and are discovering, to their discomfort, that services have actually already been slashed to the bone.

Quite a coup for Zurich, a dark sign for America, and perhaps a missed opportunity for the UK.

I am delighted to share that Nobel laureates Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee will join our Department of Economics @econ.uzh.ch at the University of Zurich on July 1, 2026, as Lemann Foundation Professors of Economics.

Had you heard of this lady from Venezuela? Me neither. Have you heard of Trump’s Gaza peace deal? The Nobel Peace Prize would have been a win-win all round: good for Gazans, good for the region, good for UKR’s chances, good for Trump & bad for warmongers like Putin & Kim Jong-un. Daft Cmtee.

Come on, Ms Cooper, you’re a British Foreign Secretary. Speak up! Trump deserves this whatever one feels about his domestic policies (horrible imho).

Ms Elzinga is absolutely bang to rights in this. The Govt’s attack on the IB (doubtless to burnish its Brexit credentials) is outrageous. Come on Yvette Cooper, stick your head above the parapet for once & challenge Ms Philipson.

Trump deserved it.

Donald Trump DIDNT win the Nobel Peace Prize.

🤣

I’m not sure it’s a PM’s job to provide moral leadership, tbh. That’s the Archbishop of Canterbury’s job.
