sonicretro.org/2011/08/pax-... The first time I wrote an article for any website was playing the demo at Penny Arcade Expo in 2011, before we knew if the US soundtrack would even make it in. (The music was the original Japanese soundtrack) I still think about this period of time for video games.

Meanwhile the Halo Netflix show got cancelled before they even got to the titular Halo because it was so damn boring. Microsoft squandered the Halo brand and they have nothing else to take it's place. Not Gears, not Forza, but I guess we're getting a second Minecraft movie in this deal.

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all put in this big bet on delving more into Hollywood and TV for their next big money making push and of all 3, Microsoft got hit the worst. Wii U's TV integration fell apart with the lack of success for the console. Still, that Mario movie did insane numbers. Worth it.

Who can forget all those Kinect + TV apps Microsoft put out at the launch of the Xbox One that they very quickly decided not to put any money into before stripping Kinect from future Xbox One units?

Seeing the Xbox discourse today, besides betting hard on Cloud Gaming (and losing) you can also thank the TV executives that thought Xbox should become your set top box that you watch your TV through. Plus all your favorite Xbox brands becoming prestige TV shows, movies and other extended media.

Oh god, MST3K is still doing those terribly AI upscaled episodes after the Kickstarter failed.

Everything still looks oddly rounded, lost detail is still very much lost. I know there isn't a lot they can do with those first 10 seasons but yeesh.

Feels proper testing isn't done for the preservation program for a lot of these DOS games, or has efforts done that are incomplete or individuals experimenting with configs on a case-by-case basis. Lot of DOS games to go through. Using DOSBox Staging is great, but some of these just aren't ready.

I don't get why @gog.com has new DOSBOX configs for both Blake Stone games. Not only are they inconsistent, they don't even share features or have weird problems. PS has "controller" options (That just remaps keyboard functions) CRT shaders, AoG doesn't. PS has echo-y adlib, uses wrong cycles config
