Gonna be real and quote this - I really don’t know very much about Otomedius and I want to go in a little blind.

I have heard it’s a bit of a mid shmup and my impression is “what if we took sexy parodius more seriously” which I think is a weird call
So is the reason people hate this game just because of the ridiculous anime girl stuff? Or is it bad in other ways too?

My Gradius journey has led many places but one... and now it looks like we'll have to go there on tonight's stream of

Otomedius Excellent

(Also gonna see if I can get the Arcade Otomedius going as well)

Me: would you watch an anime with me for the internet
Wife: sure, what’s it called
Me: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Wife: (under her breath) The fuck…?
January 22, 2026 at 5:09 AM
Hmm, got an idea for a YT series where I watch something for the first time

I hope more indie games embrace the aesthetic of kitbashing free images together into some sort of CDi-esque fever dream.

"Smooth movement and a shoestring graphics budget" is gonna be the next big thing, I can feel it.

Ok so tonight’s reviews

Full Fathom: this is one of those games that’s really cool but you have to really be invested

It’s low poly horror but it also requires you to pilot a submarine single handedly via a text document. It is very obtuse and you need the patience for it.

Has potential!

Do you stream video games? You may owe your audience an hour of "Obey the Insect God", which has a free demo and is developed and published by "Chunkle Freaky's Movies Games" and "Charles Davis". I made no typos.

Obey the Insect God on Steam
Step foot into the lair of the Insect God...if you dare. Face brutal enemies in pulse-pounding combat with digitized sprites that harken back to your favorite controversial fighting game from the ’90s...

Me: would you believe me if I said I was from the future
Wife: no. I’m more likely from the future
Me: you couldn’t even figure out the organ donation website!
Wife: you’re the fool that thinks they save you and don’t just take the organs!
January 20, 2026 at 5:06 AM
Wife: are you an organ donor?
Me; what?
Wife: do you think they let you die?
Me: what!
Wife: should I be an organ donor?
Me: what???
Wife: do you think-
Me: stop I can’t type this fast!!!

Wife: I always fail CAPTCHA. Oh I got it! I found all the traffic lights. I always fail usually. The bikes, the stairs, the buses… but this is the trick. The traffic lights. I guess I am very robotic in how I use the computer.

*sharp parenting exhale*

Ok NOW I am gonna stream gradius
January 20, 2026 at 2:38 AM
Gonna podcast and then roughly two hours from now maybe we do some Gradius SA-1 drilling what do you think about that huh
January 20, 2026 at 12:17 AM
After so many fictional works go out of their way to try and explain time travel, I sort of appreciate 11.22.63’s brazen “look there’s just a portal to 1960 in my diner, I don’t know”
January 19, 2026 at 3:46 AM
Well we finished Normal Mode of Gradius SA1 but still gotta see what Hard Mode has to offer next time!!!
January 19, 2026 at 3:03 AM
At dinner with wife and some friends.

One lady is telling us about this suburban housewife party she attended where they have a sex therapist talk for the first hour and like give them protips and shit and I am *fascinated* by this.

And there’s party favors!
January 17, 2026 at 11:25 PM
God damn that Gradius 3 SA1 Hack is brutal and exciting

We got all the way to Stage 6 on one life, I feel like a 1CC is in striking distance!

Still gotta derust my Ed a little though

What if your timeline was a game? Play @drasticactions.dev game SkyDrop that is also a Bluesky client.
My first Bluesky client and "game", SkyDrop, lets you interact with Bluesky in very stupid, but hopefully fun, ways! You can scroll feeds, your timeline, and if you're insane enough to try, make posts!

You can play the web version here:

another benefit of using signal before you need it is though messages are encrypted they can still tell when someone started using it or if they're using it. having normalized usage before many people in a region join at the same time in theory makes harder to infer usage is part of a recent pattern
A thing that you can do right now to support your community is to download and install the SIGNAL messaging app and learn how to use it *before* ICE/CBP attacks your city.
