I think apple tv is one of the few boxes that doesnt take frequent pictures of whats on your screen to sell to advertisers.

I use that and refuse to put my tv on the intertubez

I hope thats at the heart of this decision. Its ugly but strong arming Apple, Nvidia, et al to shift volume to Intel may be necessary. I dont know how else they catch up. It wont be on desktops, laptops and servers.

If we all kinda agree that domestic chip manufacturing capabilities are critical to not single sourcing the global chip economy to Taiwan and this deal drives volume to Intel so they get more at bats to improve and catch TSMC, then it may be worth opening the can of worms around government control.

Thanks for the Intel segment. This may be overly simplistic but Intel just needs volume, even if its no margin. TSMC took the low to no margin mobile chips early and just kept improving process and now they are dominating.
