With all the AI spyware built into Windows 11 and AI's inability to prevent spewing protected information if prompted, some university lawyers should really investigate whether teachers using Windows 11 violates FERPA.

The Romans gave us a word for a person whose speech (dicta) is law. Just hearing this claim feels like a gut punch.

History majors have lower unemployment than computer science majors.

Folks with humanities graduate degrees are more sought after by corporate recruiters than those with MBAs.

NEW: The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that a 2021 censorship law can't be used to ban teaching about race and gender in Oklahoma's higher education institutions.

This is a win for academic freedom and the First Amendment.

Exciting news! @unileiden.bsky.social now has its very own Leiden Center for the Study of Ancient Religions (L*CeSAR), run by my wonderful colleagues Kim Beerden and Rafał Matuszewski. Working on ancient religion, and looking to connect? Check out the website: ancientreligions.lucdh.nl
Website of the Leiden Center for the Study of Ancient Religions. The text reads: "
Leiden Center for the Study of Ancient Religions

L*CeSAR is a network that aims to foster academic exchange among researchers working on ancient religions in Leiden and beyond. The Center seeks to become a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together scholars from Leiden University and other Dutch universities, and offering a platform for scholarly dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge."

At the bottom, two clickable buttons read "Who are we?" and "What we do?". At the top, the horizontal menu reads "Home", "About us", "Activities" and "Contact Us"

I'll be in some national parks this summer. I plan to report this new signage. Whitewashing American history hurts America. Truth is the only path to reconciliation and healing. If America aspires to greatness, may it be a greatness based in knowing its past as a springboard to righting its wrongs.

Has there ever been a government office that has felt more fully a part of the community it represents? A staff as universally respected? An absolutely devastating blow.

Today is the last day at the NEH for me and many of my amazingly dedicated colleagues. We did our best to represent & serve the American people. To champion humanities research, teaching, public engagement, cultural heritage, infrastructure, and innovation.
Collection of stickers, flyers, business cards, and letter.
