Tape out now.

Crackle. Organ hum. Rough beats & dub daze.
The bass blown-out and up front.
Everything echoes or covered in fuzz.
Nothing is clear.

One fragment of cut-up text remains... "artists bury night, wreck ears"

One of my own tracks came on in the car earlier & I enjoyed it like it wasn't mine 😁

I didn't play bass or guitar on it so its only partly mine anyway, & the guitar part Gavin Laird plays in the break is very beautiful so I recommend it

Its been a year since I found a teenage diary - a entry from this week in 1988; I like this one cos it has some nice details and it identifies the main reason I loved going to gigs when I was a kid - to meet people.

but I also thought Miles Hunt was cool? wow...

the past is another planet.
Diary entry, 7th October, 1988 "Met Emma at 8.30 to go to the Wonder Stuff gig at the QM. We took the tube to Hillhead & met Mo, Mo, Kev <deleted> & General in the queue, so we jumped in with them. The Wonder Stuff were shit hot. The singer's a cool bastard. We met lots of people there, I met Bryan <deleted>! Arsehole. We took a taxi to George Square and got a bus to E.K. Got home in time to see 'The Monkees' on TV (4am). Went to sleep about 5.30am after some tea & naughties. Yellow concert ticket - Glasgow Queen Margaret Union, The Wonder Stuff, Friday, 7th October 1988

It's #BookshopDay. A good day - as they all are - to visit your local independent book shop, or order something from @bookshop-org-uk.bsky.social (where they currently have Our Secrets Are The Same on sale with a little discount)

Or people could just say '1930s' or '1950s'...

I've absorbed british culture for decades and no matter how many times 'georgian', 'edwardian', 'regency' etc are mentioned in terms of timescale I have no idea when any of those times are cos I hate royals so much...

yes, I am watching Grand Designs.

Aye, I was thinking about the recent 'Into The Dub' track GD did when I asked the question... I totally love it btw 💥🧨

Is that what the Bug/Ghost Dubs stuff keeps reminding me of? I think it might be...
bhtransmissions.bsky.social
I remember buying them on emusic (i think it was calld?) In the late 2000s. It might be a bit too subtle for me but I will revisit over the weekend

Keeping this for later. Fuck Thatcher.
michaelshallcross.bsky.social
Interesting piece, this. Unlike his friend, Kingsley Amis, Burgess is sharply critical of Thatcher, for inducting a social philosophy that suggests '[t]here is something criminal about being poor'. He also warns, unheeded, that education should never 'be considered in terms of a market economy'...

I was listening to the recent billy woods album on commute this morning & I rewound this to play it again 💥💥💥

I really like Despot's verse on 'Versailles', off woods' 'Aethiopes' album, but this track has real 'back to Def Jux' vibe with (I assume) an EL-P beat

giving the camera a hard stare there, like it.
bhtransmissions.bsky.social
I would have spent a whole lot less time alone trying to make beats like EL-P and a whole lot more time making a racket with pals in dark rooms
bhtransmissions.bsky.social
I pretty much check out anything they put out, not always into it but I really like their whole deal/vibe/whatever

The albums I play most are the last three Damon Locks albums on International Anthem - i find him pretty inspirational
