The plot doesn’t matter. It’s all about the thrill of the chase. The best recent Mission Impossible films understood this. The last two suffered because they forgot this.

But Hitchcock knows this and he knows it doesn’t matter or make a lick of sense. It’s just interested in entertaining you in the moment. It’s almost like 24 - what happened an hour ago is irrelevant, you’re just thrilled in the moment. Mindfulness as a movie.

But the thing I adore is how deliberately vague it is about so many things - you don’t know who the bad guys are or what they’re doing until a few minutes from the end. It doesn’t matter - they’re just the bad guys. You don’t know how they’re rescued off the cliff at the end.

I rewatched North By Northwest again tonight, a film I adore. Its so much a prototype for action cinema that came since - there’s a lot of Bond and a heck of a lot of Mission Impossible in there. And for all that it sets up, it’s also a remake of Hitchcock’s own 39 Steps.

Just because Trump turned up in front of a microphone and some cameras doesn’t mean that anyone in broadcast media has to show it.
Just humour him and put on something that attempts to elevate humanity. Or at least not make it considerably worse.

It may be one of Spielberg's legendary multi-setup oners, but the scene in Raiders where Indy is at home and packing. We see from the outside that it's a nice sized bungalow. So why has he got a wardrobe full of clothes in his lounge? Weirdo.

I’m working on two bonus tracks for a special edition of People & Industry.
The album originally came with 2 bonus tracks on Bandcamp, so the repress will be a 33rpm LP and a 45rpm EP with four bonus tracks.
We’re aiming for release in April. I know a lot of people have been asking for this one!

We’re surrounded by trees filled crows and there’s an ancient church down the way. We get wind whistles, crows cawing and bells tolling ominously. It feels like we live in a Hammer horror film at this time of year.
