I know it's not the point but he looks fucking awful, even by his own ravaged standards.

I'd bet hard cash that he is freebasing. A lot.
BARTIROMO: There is outrage across the country that there is another killing. Someone is dead at the hands of Border Patrol. What can you tell us?

KASH PATEL: You do not get to attack law enforcement officials in this country without any repercussions. We not messing around.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.

“Outside agitators” is older than Putin; I am begging white people to crack open a history book about Black Americans for once
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

Which kind of shows how much of our lives could be decided by self-justifying explanations of 50 votes here and there, rather than trends and underlying data.
The outcome of this by-election will almost certainly define government policy for the next three years.

If Reform wins, expect Blue Labour to ramp up

If it's the Greens, the growing calls for a leftwing pivot will be vindicated and those voices around the Cabinet table will push for a rethink
It's clear that the Green Party are the way to keep Reform out of Manchester.

We are already on the ground in Gorton and Denton - and we are going to be campaigning for every single vote.

A new Green MP representing the community.

Let's go!

years and years of avoiding plain language and the active voice do make the choice to use it more impactful, I suppose

They do also WEIGH complaints. They might respond defensively or full on snarkily to them, but they are counting them nonetheless.
One thing the BBC is sometimes capable of doing better than other broadcasters is applying pressure from the inside - someone like eg Ros Atkins should have an editor or writer on from this to have them defend the decisions.

Many of the right’s biggest influencers traffic in tactical masculinity and operator cosplay, and I don't think many are going to resist the urge to call out ICE ops for being clown shoes if it affords them a little time to brag about their own skills and training.
One interesting thing to monitor, as the Trump administration pushes its narrative defending the actions of federal immigration officers who shot and killed Alex Pretti, for some MAGA people this appears to be a breaking point

Penetrating the formal, and informal, channels through which time- or information-poor people form their opinions has always been critical. As William Wilberforce said in the fight to ban slavery:

"You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you didn't know."

Creating opposition to the actions of the state or a political cause is rarely about changing the mind of 'the other side'.

It's about making time- or information-poor people aware of the horrible shit. The 'undecided centre' is rarely neutral. It's underinformed, consciously or subconsciously.

Difficult not to feel that Andy Burnham’s political ambitions have already been skewered by Tacitus: he will be a great future Labour leader so long as he never actually becomes Labour leader.

We're very proud of your spiritual growth, child of the light, we really are. You have shown so much potential.

But you breached the boundary of compound, child of the light. Why did you do that? You looked upon sin. You understand that cannot be tolerated, don't you?

This is why the Government should step in. Support the BBC against Trump but challenge it, no require it, to be a "without fear" news organisation once more.

The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue
