Thank you! I do find with this story more than anything else it’s the details that really make you see it for the conspiracy it was. And so I did not pull back from those details.

Finished Mean Streak by @squigglyrick.bsky.social It was a great read, harrowing at times, and insanely well researched. The details! 5 stars. Recommended.

An utterly shameful list of murderous, ecocidal, omnicidal acts by a government that loves to claim it cares

The strategy of trying to get Labor and the bureaucracy to act is an abject failure. Government is a failed institution, most clearly when it comes to climate.

Time to build the next system
Labor’s slate for fossil fuel approvals
The Albanese government has already approved 31 fossil fuel projects, and more than that are waiting, even as renewables overtake coal as the top source of electricity.

How many recommendations did the Robodebt Royal Commission make, again? And which one, specifically, did the government refuse to recognise, let alone commit to?

Warnings about how to avoid a paper trail that might later be accessed by an FOI request are part of the induction kit for new political staffers. Even the acronym has its own crude nickname in the ministerial wing: “FOI. Fuck Off Idiot.” satpa.pe/zPB9QFA
Inside Albanese’s FOI reforms: ‘He hates transparency’
Labor’s reforms to freedom of information laws are opposed by every public submission made to the Senate, with the government’s record on secrecy worse than Scott Morrison’s.

The transparency Albo used at election time is complete BS. We all knew that when NACCs first case was investigating it's own Commissioner.
binchicken24.bsky.social
This government is doing everything it can to stop any FOI requests, particularly into it's very own version of robodebt, and the unlawful punishment of the unemployed. They are no different from the LNP, in fact they have become the LNP by adoption of all the LNPs failed and unlawful policies.

When the Robodebt Royal Commission recommends strengthening FOI laws to prevent abuse of Cabinet confidentiality provisions, what is a government to do?

Fascism and conspiracies prosper when governments become secretive and particularly when they reduce transparency and accountability. Our political duopoly are promoting and even encouraging this social disruption and degradation of our democracy.

One example: the prime minister is president of a sports club registered as a betting industry lobby group and is sponsored by the gambling industry. That's Morrison level duplicity and corruption - Labor are barely better than LNP

'people of means' ... because ALP have totally rigged the system now?
Alternative option is to attack from within. ALP totally deserves it.
Fuck the Duopoly 👎

Albanese, and his fellow careerist party faithful are counting on the Australian people continuing to vote for Labor in the absence of an attractive alternative.
Why quality community-endorsed independents are critical, moving forward, to create minority govt, and to negotiate progressive reforms

Well described. We need to end the duopoly. This whole “marginally better than the LNP shambles” is killing us.

Albanese’s an insular, deeply institutionalised apparatchik who has spent his whole adult life in service to ‘The Party’.
ALP is his principal loyalty & focus - instead of people of Australia.
He is emblematic & stereotypical of the ‘political elite’ & lacks a scintilla of real world life experience

Yep, just like the LNP, Labor like to commit their unlawful acts in private without the public knowing what they are doing. Just have a look at what they are doing to the unemployed and those receiving social security payments. Why do Labor hate the poor so much? They are no different to the LNP now

The Albanese govt’s first term was the second most secretive on record.

Rather than changing their ways, they’re doubling down and tightening our FOI system to make it even harder to get information. Not a single expert or member of parliament outside of the Labor party has backed their new bill.

Labor don't care about the unemployed, they actively hate them, just like the LNP, which is why they love this system and don't want to get rid of it, (even if it is unlawful). No one has been held to account for robodebt nearly 10 years after the extortion scheme started, that says it all about ALP

“Privately, Labor MPs acknowledge there is a need to scrap the entire system.“

As your MP if they’re one of them. And if yes, what are they doing about it?

‘audited numbers do not suggest the ANU is experiencing any crisis’

‘The auditors ticked off on one set of numbers, and the senior leadership waved another set at their staff, students and community in order to justify the spending cuts they want to make’ australiainstitute.org.au/post/a-close...
A closer look at the ANU books reveals a hard truth about these job cuts
The leadership of the Australian National University (ANU) has been claiming it is in financial crisis, with the former vice-chancellor declaring the institution was living beyond its means.

Blue is not a colour often seen in flowers, but some of our wildflowers are stunning blue, these are a few blue beauties from my corner of WA.
