Blue is not a colour often seen in flowers, but some of our wildflowers are stunning blue, these are a few blue beauties from my corner of WA.

These azure orchids are not common in my area, but they are my favourite of the sun orchids.

Amazing/depressing stuff in #Estimates.

this is a good story but it shows that people still fundamentally misunderstand LLMs - there is no "working properly", they're inherently probabilistic models. hallucinations aren't a bug, they're a fundamental part of language models. these aren't fact machines!!!

The bemusing part of this is even though the Qld coal fleet is youngest in the country, they won't last to the 2040s. The Qld government knows this - but throwing red meat to their idiot wing and their donors is an aesthetic I suppose.

Now we are the quarry of the world, and still think America is gonna save us if we are in trouble, and still give them billions for no subs. Australia, the stupid country. ALP cutting funding for the CSIRO as well, just like the LNP.

This could have been Australia, but thanks to John Howard, Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison, the Minerals Council and the BCA, we wasted nearly 20 years subsidising gas and coal instead. What a waste.

China ≠ just coal plants and solar exports. The deeper shift: electrifying everything it can. Strategic, because China relies on imported fossil fuels. Coal is still king in the power mix—for now. But the balance is changing year by year.

A slap on the wrist behind closed doors undermines the case put forward by Finance that the culture of PwC is all cleaned up, which was their justification for allowing PwC back into the fold of government contracts. #auspol

Thank you Penny, but my guess is that the duopoly LNP and ALP are very keen to get this legislation passed, and as usual, anything thing that harms the poor and vulnerable is ok with both of the duopoly parties. The punishment is the point, the cruelty and lack of rights for the poor, IS THE POINT.

Whole notion of a ‘targeted compliance framework’…like ‘mutual obligation’ is an offensive nihilist neoliberal construct

DEWR sought an assurance report on the Targeted Compliance Framework. They got it. It told them clearly that the TCF could NOT be assured. And yet the government continues to administer this unlawful system so it can suspend income support payments for bullshit reasons.

All they care about is being elected and staying in power.

Five of Australia’s grandest designs
Snowy Hydro, NSW
This 70-year-old hydroelectric scheme – now being vastly expanded – comprises 16 dams, nine power stations and 225 kilometres of tunnels and aqueducts. You can most easily see parts of it near Lake Eucumbene and Lake Jindabyne. The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma covers its operation and the latest construction projects and it offers a virtual flight over the dams and lakes. See snowyhydro.com.au

No surprise that despite majority community support we still don’t have a ban on gambling advertising when the Albanese government accepts money from companies like Sportsbet for their fundraising.

When will they put Australians ahead of gambling companies?

Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’

It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

Yep, but so many in this country are brainwashed about sport, and fossil fuels, so there is little hope of the government taking any sort of stand on anything important. The only way to change this is to vote out the duopoly. This is Australia, so boring.
