PS if they did something unforgivable, you don’t have to continue trying, but if you have a sliver of hope and like a teaspoon of strength you have to keep going!🙏🏻 it’s easy to believe people are too far gone but so many are still able to change for the better, our communities are worth it 🫶🏻

If you can manage to not crash out, take time and talk about trans people and gender with your parents who maybe don’t quite get it, talk to your friends about the fact that any religion can be taken to extreme but someone practicing a mainstream religion doesn’t make them an extremist, keep talking

While I definitely need to put boundaries in place w certain people, I try to talk to lots of different people irl because this isn’t the first time I’ve been surprised by a change of mind. It won’t happen over night and it’s okay to be frustrated but people truly can change

I know a lot of my other political posts are moreso solidifying and expanding on my beliefs and opinions but irl it is very common that I am around people who think pretty different than I do whether they are actually more rightwing or into some other area than the progressive left and this is huge

I didn’t even have to bring it up! I’ve made the point about how unfair it is that we’ve associated these things with islam countless times and they would agree that the people theyd met werent bad but were struggling to unlearn the propaganda they were taught about the religion

this person is NOT right wing but they have some inherent biases about the topic that has bothered me a lot in the past and gotten us into some VERY heated arguments, today they came to me, very heated up, saying “people say he’s a terrorist JUST because he’s muslim and not white it’s RIDICULOUS”

..yall…, after literal YEARS of trying to appeal to someone close to me about some islamaphobia theyve exhibited, zohran is helping to bring them around the corner 🥹 I can’t discount my own work in talking with them and calling it out their prejudices but his campaign has clearly helped
