Sorry to the people I follow on here who are normal... uh... well, who are not in fandom, anyway.

I'm just a bit too ADHD to manage multiple accounts, let's be honest, but am also interested in whatever non-fandom thing I followed you for. Let's all just pretend I'm not here 😂

[infomercial voice] are YOU a chronically online word person? have YOU used years of your wild and precious life making posts on the internet? do YOU make liberal use the emdash? you MAY be entitled to some (ice cold) comfort in the form of saying 'i don't write like AI, AI writes like me'
all this omg if you use these words ppl will think you use chatgpt! Omg stop using emdashes. Excuse, I will use whatever the hell I want. Writers wrote whatever they wanted and this machine gobbled it all up and now we can't use words and punctuation because the machine spits it out? Absurd.
I mean, I also visualise people to some extent as their profile pictures so. My brain is pretty silly 😂
Your post has made me realise that I think of you as “aunt lino” 😂 even though I intellectually know that isn’t your name and not even your actual user name either hahha
There are things I would like to be doing, and some of them are time sensitive, and I am instead just bed rotting and I hate it because the spirit is like 80% willing but the flesh is not. Or, I guess more accurately, the flesh feels like my head is going to explode whenever I sit up.
lol
“Have they gotten in the house again?”
Holy crap. You are right, I was not prepared.

The German company that makes the mechanical ladder used in the Louvre heist has used the image to advertise, with the text 'When you need to move fast'

10/10 response, no notes
I love reading something funny to someone, and they look kinda amused about it, which is nice, but then they come back like 10 minutes later with something even funnier to add to the funny thing. Yay to people twirling things around in their mind like that, I just think it’s really neat.
(Also “always question the accuracy of American pop culture depictions of any country and culture anywhere at all, because they really cannot be trusted with stuff like that”, but that’s a constant issue lmao.)
Ah yes. Using the stupidly loyal employees who get themselves killed by villains in MacGyver to teach kiddo important praxis such as “your job will not love you back” and “nobodies’ belongings are worth dying over and 1000x more so when they aren’t even yours”. Normal tv watching behaviour for sure.
Torturing us just for the sake of it, clearly 💀
Hey brain, could we maybe stop with the constant lowkey brain-screaming? Just for a while?

This is great both in its specific arena but also in thinking about work -- longtime readers know I proselytize about "notebook time", which is not only time for just thinking, but I specifically do it in a way that creates a little friction, forces concentration.
This hits a lot of the notes I've been shouting from the rooftops: the frictionlessness of both producing and consuming slop, and the value of labor as friction that lets us slow down and think. Rather than "unlocking creativity" it's rendering our collective creativity down into a big vat of slop.
Hi. I wrote an essay about AI slop: How it feels like an invasive species for the internet. How its boosters describe building a future that’s devoid of craft. How frictionlessness can be nihilistic & how this stuff seems to leach part of our shared humanity out of the world. I hope you'll read it.

Heard about the Louvre jewel heist and my first thought was “finally, some good old fashioned normal crime”
Like, yay, it’s always nice to meet someone irl who is cool with things. But also oh my fucking god.
Unrelated: had a convo irl with someone today where they dropped a casual, positive reference re. someone they know being trans, and also re. something queer, and the visceral sense of “holy fuck maybe this person I am talking to doesn’t want to kill us with hammers” was both immense and alarming.
Y’know that thing people from geographically small countries do where they assume the distance between places must be tiny and accessible? Yeah well I just realised I’ve been doing the opposite of that. What do you MEAN xyz is only two hours away on the bus? That is nothing.
I really feel like there have to be ways they could make it less painful, but that would involve giving many more damns than I think the system does.
