Loving people to affect change is much easier. I don't like most people but I try to love everyone. There's a difference. Love is a verb and verbs require work. Change cannot happen without work. Change cannot happen without love.

Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

I have very little practice painting people but I quite like how this came out. Number 15 of maybe 21 in a series thinking about blue collar workers, 11x17ish acrylic on recycled panel.

This specifically because she sees life and death more than most anyone. Mississippi has the highest infant mortality rate, double the national average, and a maternal mortality rate double that. Think about it. It's inexcusable.

Between nightmares of violent combat and sprinting to the studio in the cold to get milk from the fridge, I am now awake. Thanks, I hate it. At least there's coffee.

Today's Democrats smell like the Republicans from the 80s-90s. I would bet a case of beer that the fascist apparatus of surveillance and oppression will be kept entirely in place when parties swap power, but we'll have rainbow flags on the tanks in the parade next time.
