Giving up smoking?
Here's how I did it:
Most cigarettes are "habit" (you have them at set times or stuations), ~10% are "addiction" (you need the nicotine).
Start by cutting out "habit" cigs, 1 or 2 each day, over about 3wks.
So, dont smoke at every tea break, or when you get to the lights etc.

It was a very odd thing for her to have said...
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
It has *absolutely nothing* to do with Starmer, Streeting or Government, incidentally.
Recommendations for who should get NHS Covid jabs are made by JCVI & UKHSA, not by Government.
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
Covid vaccine costs providers ~£25 a shot.
NHS pays pharmacies £7.50 a shot to give it to eligible, *so that's the cost of delivering it*.

Any pharmacy charging over £32.50 for a Covid vaccine shot (all of them!) is *profiteering* & should be called out loudly & publically until they reduce prices.

Note:
30 chicken nuggets at Farmfoods (or any other supermarket, really), rated "identical to McD's" on FB, £1.49.
That's 5p each.
10 minutes in an airfryer (you can get one at Dunelm for £24), who needs uber eats?
Basically a free airfryer for 1 bag of them!

If you asked an A.I. robot factory to design an archetypal "modern Tory male politician", I'm pretty sure it would churn out hundreds of copies identical to Robert Jenrick...

It certainly does!
Takes a lot of energy to make flour, & more to bag it, then more still to turn it into bread.
Much easier to let the cow eat grass, maybe produce milk, then turn it into burgers, pasties, stew or steaks later. It can be done organically. Its doesn't *have to* be horrendous.
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
In the context of being able to travel though, you can ride a cow* much further than you can ride a bushel of wheat (unless you can toboggan on it downhill, or build a Kontiki-style boat from it).

(* Don't try this unless you're a trained rodeo rider, or Taggart from Blazing Saddles)

A typical beef steer produces ~500kg of meat, which equates to ~2.5million calories once eaten.
An acre of land can typically produce 50 bushels of wheat, producing 100,000 ounces of bread, equating to ~7.5million calories.

But the meat contains iron, protein & lots of other available nutrition.

Note:
The 2021 EU-UK TCA (Trade & Cooperation Agreement) provides tariff-free trade between UK & EU.

EU could (but hasn't) rescind the TCA, or make an exemption for UK steel in the TCA to impose tariffs (unlikely), or stand by the TCA (allows EU to import 108,000 tonnes/yr of UK steel tariff free.

THE CASE FOR REJOINING HAS NEVER BEEN GREATER!

The future of British Steel is now under serious threat - a threat that would not have existed if we were still in the EU.

Starmer’s pig-headed stupidity by refusing to rejoin anything is seriously damaging Britain and the British people.

Works for the shop freeholder, in that it keeps services in operation & stops the place falling into disrepair or vandalism, keeps people coming to the area (they usually have multiple properties) & helps minimise graffiti, damage, vermin etc at the property.
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
I think charity shops operate on a "pop-up" basis, they use an empty shop for 6 months for free, & then either start to pay rent or move on to another empty unit (sometimes same town, sometimes not).
It doesn't reflect how many donations they are getting, more whether they can get volunteers & sales
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
We already need a National Insurance Number (which is unique, & very hard to get if you are "forrin") before we can work.
Every employer is required by law to see it before allowing someone to work, & there are fines of £45,000 & 5yrs in jail awaiting any employer who doesn't check the NI number.

Note 2:
Its *far more expensive* to let everyone catch Covid unvaccinated than it is to give them a vaccine costing £25 a shot twice a year.

A day in hospital costs NHS between £600 (general ward) & £1600 (Intensive Care), & a day off work due to sickness costs the country ~£70.
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
Note:
The UK Government spend ~£25 per shot on Covid vaccine. (Astra Zeneca was just £2 a shot, but based on older technology so not so rapidly updated).
*Any* unprotected Covid infection can cause organ damage, stroke, long hospital stays &/or death.
Clearly vaccination is good value for money.

It does seem both extraordinary & ridiculous to spend all that money developing a revolutionary, safe & effective vaccine that can be rapidly updated for an emergent, rapidly mutating, destructive & deadly virus, & then decide only the very oldest & those with suppressed immunity can access it free.

If Canada believes that 'vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect against severe outcomes from COVID-19', and the best global scientific and medical evidence agrees, then why don't we invest in all our citizens and provide universal options - for ALL?

#TopTip

Put the big ginger ba$tard in the voting booth. Dont give it breakfast that morning.
That would make the squirrel's chances considerably worse...
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
Squirrels that survive their first year only live to ~6yrs old normally.
So, although it seems you may have missed your chance, time is definitely not on the squirrel's side.
bpsmithuk.bsky.social
I have actually been considering this 😂

The funniest thing someone could do politicly currently is run as a Reform candidate and defect to Labour or Greens instantly

Thanks @sianberry.bsky.social for your contribution. I spent the day hearing Black women talk about the impact on women of colour and their children during last year’s race riots and civil unrest. This is only ‘divisive’ to the far right. Then how women are erased from history. Very provocative.

Green MP blames women for being attacked by men.

The Green Party is a men’s rights party.
